April's Chitter Chatter Club family Newsletter Issue #37

Congratulations to all our wonderful volunteers and brave guests who have stepped into a Chitter Chatter Club, Brew Crew Games Club, or 18/30 Unpixel Club environment. We are now three years and one month old, and every moment has been a joy. Thank you for being part of this growing family — we can’t wait to do it all again.

As more clubs mature, we are planning ahead for a few more new clubs. Stay posted for details.

Meet our incredible volunteers — kind, caring, and endlessly generous. We are truly blessed by their hope, their heart, and their belief that loneliness recovery is possible for everyone.

Safeguarding is our priority, if anyone feels concerned, please speak to your volunteer. We do hold the right to refuse entry.

Did you know that Hall and Woodhouse Brewery have given away nearly ÂŁ1million to charity.

In January, Diane and I were invited to the Hall & Woodhouse fund‑giving ceremony, where we received a £1,500 cheque to support our operations, growth, and hardship fund for 2026. A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Hall & Woodhouse — brewers of Badger Beer for nearly 249 years — whose aim, like ours, is simple: to make people smile.

Anthony Woodhouse, Dorset’s High Sheriff for 2024–25, visited one of our Chitter Chatter Clubs September 24 and was struck by its impact. He wrote: “The Chitter Chatter Club Couch to Cafe programme is such a simple idea, but what an impact it has on people’s lives. Loneliness can be so destructive, but such an initiative needs a driving force and a catalyst — you — Anne Anderson.”

/

To date, we’ve welcomed over 12,500 new people and poured more than 46,000 cups of kindness and connection.

The Moon in the Square Chitter Chatter Club is always buzzing with life — whether there are 5 or 15 arrive, they are all people from all walks of life sharing stories that truly resonate. A huge well done to everyone embracing the journey of loneliness recovery. And a special thank you to Vanessa, whose bright energy (and vibrant purple hair!) makes every session welcoming. If you’re new, just look for the yellow sign near table 50 and come say hello.

Walking the winter blues away

Winter has been full of kind, uplifting meet‑ups sponsored by AFC Bournemouth Cherries — from two festive gatherings at the Spyglass & Kettle and the H&W on Poole Quay, to a windswept January at Avon Beach. February took us to Kingston Maurward with a short walk to Thomas Hardy’s birthplace, where the air filled with imagery and poetic verse. March brought us to Hengistbury Head, and April’s meet‑up will be on 26th April at 1pm outside the Obscura in Bournemouth Square — if you’ve never been upstairs, it’s magical — followed by a Mary Shelley Walk. We also enjoyed a wonderful three‑day Brew Crew break‑away in Edinburgh.

Our guests returned from Scotland absolutely glowing — their brave steps and Highland fling on Scottish soil sparked brand new unrecognisable smiles. Truly wonderful!

These loneliness‑recovery programmes work. Whatever someone’s age, we see people move from depression to curiosity, from isolation to possibility.

WE ARE THREE........TODAY WE HAVE 3 PROJECTS WELCOMING LONELINESS SUFFERERS.

We are now three strong! Today, the Chitter Chatter Club family runs three welcoming projects for anyone facing loneliness. Whether you fancy a friendly chit‑chat, an afternoon of board games, or you’re aged 18–30 and want a fun, relaxed space to meet new people naturally in Weymouth, we’d love to connect with you. All our loneliness‑recovery projects sit under the Chitter Chatter Club family. For full details, visit thechitterchatterclub.co.uk.

Brew Crew Board Games Clubs are open to anyone who needs company after social isolation. We meet on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons — light, friendly, sometimes a little competitive, but always great fun. It’s a brilliant way to connect, relax, and just be yourself, with no airs or graces.

Free Brownsea Island visit - 3/6/2026 - book you place to go on a National Trust boat and day trip on the island. Only 10 places left. ([email protected])

18/30 Unpixel Club

Anne has always loved working with young people. After six years teaching English to young adults, she saw first‑hand how much they crave real connection — and how anxiety often gets in the way. When Hugh Perberry volunteered, Unpixel Club was born. Backed and launched by Dorset High Sheriff Callum Bremner JP, the room was full of excitement and hope for Weymouth’s young people to meet off‑screen, stop scrolling, and start smiling again.

The compliments have been pouring in, and with support from Weymouth Town Council, a £500 grant will help cover volunteer costs, games, and our hardship fund. If you’re aged 18–30 and want to swap screen‑time emptiness for connection, laughter, and — yes — a bit of friendly competition, the 18/30 Unpixel Club is the perfect place to begin the next chapter of your life. You’ll meet people from all backgrounds, experiences, and walks of life.

Anne isn’t teaching — she’s simply doing what she does best: having fun, encouraging others to grow into their future selves, and creating a safe place to land.

Finally - If you are feeling lonely, socially isolated and wanting to make new friends, pop into one of our wonderful, safeguarded clubs for a cuppa kindness and connection.

What have you got to lose?
