| | Welcome to Declutterly! This month, I'm thinking about my "why" (see: Simon Sinek) & what sparks me to do this work. June is my birthday, and it's been just over a year since I launched this business, so it's the right time for reflection. |
|
I love to help people and to problem-solve. When you're at your most stressed and emotional, that's when a trusted guide (such as myself) can help get you "unstuck."
My aunt in North Carolina passed away over two years ago, and my cousin felt stuck for a long time. Her mother's home was an oasis that reflected her creative personality. How could we possibly let it all just... go away?
I worked with my cousin to make decisions, one piece of paper and one shelf or drawer at a time. We started with non-sentimental items in the kitchen and sitting room, then worked our way through to the bedroom and art studio. In the end, we had the garbage bagged, sentimental (and "indecisive") items packed in the car, and everything else left behind for the estate sale. |
|
My aunt's house is finally being sold. My cousin is both relieved and emotionally drained, but honestly, I'm energized. Which is how I know this is my "spark." No matter how much bending-and-lifting, dragging of garbage to the curb, or scurrying up-and-down ladders, I'm excited and honored to be doing this work.
If there is a project in your own home (or an estate) that is making you feel "stuck," you've come to the right place. Reach out to me by email ([email protected]) or phone (860.944.5825). And stay tuned for more inspiration, tips, and nuggets of information right here! |

When life is going too fast, look for ways to slow down, pay attention, sink down into your body. Fairfield Public Library offers free Qigong and Embodied Meditation sessions about once a month.
Getting grounded is a great way to reconnect with your spark and find the motivation to do what matters most to you, whatever that may be. |
