EJEE

Special Issue - Interdisciplinary Learning and Transformation of Engineering Education

This special issue in the European Journal of Engineering Education (EJEE) comprises thirteen articles that together provide a rich, multidimensional examination of how interdisciplinarity is reshaping engineering education. The contributions span conceptual analyses, empirical investigations, and pedagogical innovations, each illuminating distinct aspects of how interdisciplinary learning can prepare engineers to address complex societal challenges.

SEFI PODCAST

Engineering Students’ Mental Health

With growing concerns for students' mental health over the past decade, there is an increasing need to understand the stressors that impact engineering students, and the ways in which we can support them to thrive.

In this month's episode of the SEFI Podcast (Season 7, Episode 7), hosts Natalie Wint and Neil Cooke speak with Karin Jensen and Faith Gacheru (University of Michigan) to discuss undergraduate mental health in engineering programmes.

SEFI@WORK

How ABC Learning Design Method Supports Curriculum Innovation

📅 16 April 2026

🕑 14:00–15:00 CEST

ABC Learning Design is a popular and effective rapid design method for developing educational programmes, modules and short courses. Created at UCL in 2015, ABC enables academic teams to collaborate in short, focused workshops to co-create visual storyboards of students’ learning journeys. Its ease of use, adaptability, and open licence have led to widespread adoption across the UK, Europe and beyond. Join the co-creators to learn more about this method.

This SEFI@work session is organised by the SEFI Curriculum Development SIG.

SUSTAINABILITY SIG

Mark Earth Day with SEFI

📅 30 April 2026

🕑 11:00–13:00 CEST

The SEFI Special Interest Group on Sustainability invites the entire engineering education community to join the online 2nd edition of Sustainable Engineering Education for one EARTH (S.E.E. EARTH), an online event to raise awareness, share knowledge and experiences, and to strengthen capacity for sustainability education as part of the celebration of International Earth Day

This year’s theme is Educating for Sustainability: Beyond knowledge and technology. See the full programme here.

ATTRACTIVENESS SIG

Share your knowledge on country pathways into engineering

The SEFI SIG on Attractiveness of Engineering Education is seeking contributors to support a comparative study on the attractiveness of engineering education across contexts.

We warmly invite colleagues with knowledge of their national/regional context to contribute to the development of a pathway into engineering for their area. This could include key educational routes and transition points, as well as any other notable practices that influence students’ progression towards engineering. To get involved, please email Irene Josa ([email protected])

ENGINEERING FOR ONE PLANET

New EOP Resource: Bridging the Climate Gap in Engineering Education

Engineering students are increasingly demanding the skills to address the climate crisis. However syllabi are already packed, and finding the time to develop new, high-quality climate content can be a significant hurdle.

To bridge this gap, Engineering for One Planet (EOP) — in collaboration with 18 global organizations, including ABET, ASEE, ASME, and IEEE — is proud to release a new, open-access resource: Get Started with EOP | Engineering for One Planet.

OPEN SCIENCE FOUNDATION

OSF Essentials: Monthly Deep Dive

The Open Science Foundation is running a new webinar series on OSF essentials from March through October.

Each session is a focused, 45-minute deep dive on a specific OSF topic such as search, metadata, licensing, preregistration, and the API. Sessions are led by members of the OSF team, and participants will be pointed to relevant help guides and resources along the way so you have everything you need after the session ends. Participants are welcome to join one session or as many as are relevant to your work.
