| | Thank you so much for reading and supporting the Youth & Children Update. This month's headline news is that this edition will be our last, for now at least. With Revd Fee Reynolds off to pastures new, and a desire to reach a wider audience, we are rationalising our publications. Almost everyone who reads this Update also gets our Adventures in Faith newsletter or our DMMC News publication (for those in authorised ministry), and we so are hoping to encourage the small number who do not to sign-up for Adventures in Faith.
The good news! From next month we'll add our youth and children's content to Adventures in Faith, because we are all on a faith adventure, regardless of our age! We think this will raise the profile of youth and children's ministry across the diocese and help us all to see that we are the Body of Christ together. You'll still get the Youth and Children Newsletter twice a year, in summer and winter, so look out for that—the next edition is due soon!
So, don't forget to sign up for our Adventures in Faith newsletter, if you're not yet on our mailing list, and share the news with your congregations and friends. |

| | The Rt Rev Dr Dagmar Winter was installed as the new Bishop of Edinburgh at a joyous service in St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral on Saturday 30 May.
Guests from all over Scotland and from as far as Ghana and New Zealand packed the cathedral, including church leaders the Most Rev Dr Leo Cushley, Roman Catholic Archbishop of St Andrews and Edinburgh, the Rt Rev Gordon Kennedy, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, and the Most Rev Rt Hon Stephen Cottrell, Archbishop of York.
After celebrating the Eucharist, Bishop Dagmar said: “Thank you to everyone who contributed to such a wonderful launch into my new episcopal role. In the following weeks and months there will be many to meet and I have much to learn and absorb. I can’t wait to get started! The Synod of the Scottish Episcopal Church next week comes early in my time and will be a further opportunity for important encounters.”

| | YEEK 26, Glenalmond College, 26 July–1 August Are you ready to set off On the Way? If you are in S1-S6 then there can be no better starting point than at YEEK 26, the provincial youth week of the Scottish Episcopal Church. Over the week, join other young people from across Scotland at Glenalmond College in rural Perthshire for a slight detour on your journey of faith: full of fun, great people, and plenty that can happen on the way. | | Children's Come and Sing, Friday 19 June Calling all children in P3–7 who love to sing! Join us for an afternoon of singing songs on the theme ‘Earth, Sea and Sky’. Doors will be open from 1:30pm, with the singing starting at 2pm. There will be a break for juice and a biscuit, and children will be fully supervised by Cathedral staff during the workshop. The afternoon will end with an informal performance of songs learnt at 4pm. Parents and families are warmly invited to join us for this. Book using this link. |

| | Morland Choristers' Camp, 26 July–2 August 2026 This annual residential summer course for young singers aged 9–17 offers a unique opportunity to experience the excitement of singing in a 100-strong four-part choir and to enjoy a week of outdoor activities in the Eden Valley. | | Pilgrimages to Iona, October 2026 |

| | The Provincial Youth Committee will be hosting two pilgrimages to Iona for young people in October 2026:
▶ 10–14 October for 12–18 year olds
▶ 14–17 October for those aged 18–25+
Pilgrims will gather in Oban before travelling by ferry and across Mull to Iona, staying at Bishop’s House and exploring the island, including opportunities to visit Iona Abbey and join the community there for worship.
The cost, which includes travel from Oban, accommodation and food on Iona will be £235 for 12–18s for four nights and £210 for 18–25+ for three nights, with a supported rate of £160 available. There will also be the option to pay by instalments.

| | beHeld: Youth & Children’s Ministry Training Days In 2026, all involved in youth and children's ministry are invited to a fresh series of training days at Ps & Gs Church called 'beHeld'. The next is on 26 September (last date this year is 28 November). Each is on a Saturday morning, 9am–1pm, with light refreshments, worship, and the chance to hear from experts on key subjects relevant to ministry with youth and children. It aims to enable SEC congregations to develop new projects, or to support existing projects with an SEC connection, address increasing poverty amongst families in their community. | | Godly Play at the Fringe, 10–13 August, Salvation Army at the Pleasance: The Salvation Army’s City Corps is right in the heart of the Edinburgh Fringe venues.
