Draft Impact Statement Guidelines Released for 30-day Comment Period on

Information Required for Federal Review of Nuclear Waste Scheme

The Nuclear Waste Management Organization’s massive project to transport and bury all of Canada’s high-level nuclear fuel waste in northwestern Ontario has moved to the next stage of a federal review with April 10th’s launch of a second 30-day comment period – this one on what information must be included in the multi-year review process. The deadline for comments is Sunday, May 10th.

The Guidelines will be instructions to the NWMO on what information they must provide about their nuclear waste project, in their Impact Statement. It is important that their Impact Statement provide a detailed description of all parts of the project and the potential effects, as it will form the basis of the impact assessment process and public hearing.

Send your comment on the Draft Integrated Tailored Impact Statement Guidelines (there is also a summary version) and what information should be included by going to the Impact Assessment Agency’s project page and using the “Submit a Comment” button, or sending an email to [email protected].

We the Nuclear Free North is providing workshops and Zoom sessions to support members of the public in making comments on the draft guidelines. Join us!
