Summer Term 2026

Small seeds grown
by the Lord

Reflecting on the Lord’s goodness in growth

Dear Friends,

The Lord Jesus Christ speaks of the Kingdom of God as being like a mustard seed (the smallest of all seeds) growing into a mighty tree in which the birds of the air (the nations of the world) make their nests. This is a great theme of Scripture that the Lord uses the weak things of this world in His purposes — fearful Gideon, a woman called Jael, an unpromising young shepherd boy. The promises of the Messiah are of a shoot out of dry ground, a small stone which defeats the kingdoms of this world.

At London Seminary we are aware that we are a small college, humanly unimpressive. Yet we are astonished at how the Lord graciously uses this ministry to accomplish His purposes. This year, once again, we are encouraged to see our student numbers growing, and it is especially good to see an increasing number of residential students (thank you for your prayers). We have just completed our Impact Report for 2025 reflecting on the Lord’s goodness over the course of the year; we would be glad to send you a copy.

In the world, the church is small – very often marginalised and even persecuted. In the UK, we are a tiny minority in a nation which has turned away from Biblical truth and morality. We pray for revival, and for the Lord’s blessing on Gospel ministry. How are we to engage with the political realm, or make our voice heard in the public square? Dr Graham Shearer will be addressing these questions in his special lecture on Tuesday 16th June please do book in here. You are also invited to join us for other lectures in that week.

And of course, all are welcome to our Thanksgiving Service at 2.30pm on Saturday 20th June.

We are thankful for your faithful support, and fellowship in the Gospel.

Summer Lectures 2026

Join us in June for a series of timely lectures on the issues facing pastors (indeed, all Christians) in this cultural moment.

The Rise of the Machines:

AI, Robotics, and Transhumanism

11 June • Jeremy Peckham

Will AI lead to extraordinary advances in human understanding, or a grave threat to the world and humanity? More info>>>

Christ, Kingdom, and Politics:
Christian Foundations for Political Engagement
16 June • Dr Graham Shearer

Christian truth and morality are not honoured in our nation. What does the Bible have to say about our national life? Should we simply make Biblical law the law of the land? Or withdraw from politics and power altogether?
More info>>>

The Dangers of Climate Alarmism:

The pursuit of 'Net Zero'
17 June • Dr Paul Mills

While Christians have a range of views on the degree and causes of global warming, we need to be aware of the danger of Climate Alarmism. Not only does it present a view of the world at odds with Biblical principles, it may also threaten Christian unity as decarbonisation efforts are promoted as of primary significance. More info>>>

Student Testimony: Dustine Cabanete

I was born in the Philippines but spent most of my life in Edinburgh, Scotland. Raised in a Catholic family, I had no interest in religion until I came to faith in Christ at the age of 12. For most of my Christian life, I attended a Pentecostal and Charismatic church. In 2020, during the lockdown, I recognised that the teachings of my previous church were contrary to the Bible. I left the church, and by God’s grace, He led my family to Grace Baptist Church in Edinburgh, which faithfully preaches the Bible.

For several years, I worked as a chef in a Thai restaurant. However, I had a deep longing for the work of Christian ministry and could not envision myself working as a chef for life. I addressed my desire to my Pastor and elders, and the Lord opened doors for me to be trained at my local church in Edinburgh.

Over the following years, the Lord continued to open doors as I considered theological training. I was offered an opportunity to apply to London Seminary, move to Kent and have my membership transferred to Halling Baptist Church, where I am currently a member, serving, training and being mentored by my Pastor.

My time at London Seminary has been profitable. I have been growing in greater love for the Scriptures. The lectures have sharpened my theological understanding and corrected my misunderstandings. I look forward to learning more.

I find it delightful that everything I have learned so far can be used to better serve my church. Please pray that the Lord will bless my studies. Pray that the Lord will give wisdom to my Pastor as he mentors me. Pray that I may increase in usefulness in serving the church and also to serve the Lord with gladness. Finally, that the Lord may give me a stronger back for the work of Christian ministry.

Are we open and willing to learn? What is our church culture on the whole matter of failure, mistakes and when things go wrong?

Join the Pastors' Academy Pastoral Team to consider how to utilise the unique mindset of the aviation industry to learn from mistakes in ministry. Online attendance still available.

Inspired by Matthew Syed’s book ‘Black Box Thinking: Why most people never learn from their mistakes – but some do’.

An update on Challenge 50

We are encouraged by the progress of the Challenge 50 giving campaign, with support for 10 men already raised — r epresenting 20% of our goal.

Challenge 50 looks beyond 2027; our desire is that this campaign will not only enable 50 men to be equipped for ministry, but also establish a culture of ongoing support that will strengthen the work of London Seminary for many years to come.

If you would like to be part of this work — through prayer or giving,or sharing the vision, we would be delighted to hear from you.
