St Mary's Youth Choir & Connect Club

Wednesdays, 3.30 - 5.30pm during term time

We've changed the way St Mary's Youth Choir operates. Rehearsals are now immediately after school on Wednesdays, during term time. The Connect Club is open to any young person in KS2, 3 or 4. Just arrive from school when you can. You do not have to sing in the choir. The choir rehearsal starts in church at 4.30pm. Do you know a child who would benefit from this valuable opportunity? Just bring them along on a Wednesday after school.

St Mary's LEGO Club

Wednesdays 6th May and 10th June, 3.30 - 4.30pm

A new after school drop-in club for all young people. We have masses of LEGO (thanks to all the kind donors). A FREE session, just come along and be creative, refreshments available, no pressure. Families very welcome.

Ross Choristers Concert

The Ross Choristers, with their usual line up of soloists and light hearted music are back for their spring concert. Tickets are £12 on the door. Once again, The Ross Choristers are supporting The Ross Spire in Peril appeal with this concert.

Talk: Strange Lives of Medieval Saints

The accounts of saints’ lives written in the Middle Ages might be seen as early biographies, but they are very different from modern biographies. Some contain many strange tales, others repeat stories from earlier saints’ lives. What do we make of them today?

Join us for this talk by historian, and our friend, Dr Janet Cooper.

Ross Choral Society Concert

Sunday 16th May, 7.30pm

Under the direction of Stephen Power, the choir will present a programme featuring Carmina Burana by Carl Orff followed by some favourite Madrigals.


This exhilarating work with its bold rhythms, sweeping melodies and the iconic ‘O Fortuna’ is thrilling to listen to and even more thrilling to sing.

Ross Heritage Walk - various subjects

The Ross Heritage Walks are back for another season. There's one on the third Wednesday of the month from May to September. 


In May, local historian, Heather Hurley, will lead a short work around sites of Almshouses, past and present. On 17th June James Wallace Richard Hall will be the subject. There's no charge, just come along to the Market House at 10.30am


Why not stay on for the free lunchtime talk in St Mary's Church at 1.00pm. You could grab your lunch from one of the excellent High Street outlets and go up and eat in in church or in the churchyard. Details immediately below.

Book Talk: Matthew Hall

Thursday 21st May, 7.00pm - St Mary's

Matthew Hall is a Bafta-winning screenwriter and novelist who lives on the England/Wales border. He practised as a barrister before becoming a full-time writer. His TV series Wing and a Prayer was nominated for a Bafta and he won a Bafta Cymru for Keeping Faith. His debut novel The Coroner was shortlisted for the Crime Writers’ Association Gold Dagger in 2009, as was his fourth novel The Flight in 2012. These Jenny Cooper novels have been adapted for Television. He has strong family connections to Canada, which he has regularly visited since 1983.

Town History Treasure Hunt
