WHAT'S NEW

SECOND TOWN HALL MEETING 📆

Image description

This month we came together for our 2nd Townhall Meeting: it was a moment to reconnect, exchange ideas, and create new spaces for our members to actively shape the future of EST.

The team took the floor to share updates on key areas: international policy, visual identity of the think tank and the progress of our ongoing work. 💪

Alongside this, the Townhall was mostly all about what comes next, and how everyone can be part of it.

That's why we are excited to officially open calls for members to join a range of exciting initiatives:
> New Research Desks on Organized Crime Prevention and Early Warning🫆
> A reimagined edition of the EST Academy 🎓
> A transregional initiative on Youth Policy Innovation in Organized Crime Prevention 🌐
> The European Policy Prize on UN reform 🏅
> New project proposals in collaboration with international partners 🤝

Each of these initiatives represents more than just a project: it’s a space for members to contribute, collaborate, and lead. 🏆

As always we celebrate and thank everyone who made this Townhall possible, from the Board to the organizing team, and especially to all the members who joined, contributed, and continue to make this community what it is.🫂💙

EVENTS AND PARTICIPATIONS

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY EVENT:

AI AND GENDERED ABUSE

📍Online Event

Image description

AI is reshaping our world fast, and not always for the better. From deepfakes to algorithmic bias and online harassment, artificial intelligence is amplifying gender-based abuse and exposing just how wide the accountability gaps in our digital systems really are.

On International Women's Day we brought together two incredible speakers to unpack it all: Pamela Victor-Ibitamuno, cyber law practitioner specialising in AI governance and digital accountability, and Shivangi Mehra, founder of Limitless Stree and advocate for gender equality, digital upskilling and ending gender-based violence.

The session kicked off with a sharp panel discussion, then moved into interactive breakout rooms — because awareness is just the starting point. The real goal? Action.

MIGRATION AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC RESILIENCE:

A UN PERSPECTIVE🇺🇳

📍Trento, Italy

Image description

In collaboration with TMUN, we launched the first workshop of the TMUN 2026 series: "Migration and Socio-Economic Resilience: a UN Perspective".

EST's Alice Bandera and Gift Flavia Onwuelo led the session, bringing their expertise in international affairs and policy research to the room.

Migration is one of the defining challenges of our time,  and unpacking it through a UN lens is exactly the kind of conversation we're here for.

This is just the first of a series of preparatory sessions ahead of TMUN 2026, designed to build the foundation for informed, substantive debate.
