Urban Exchange experienced an incredible end to 2025.

We had the privilege of hosting an Immersive Experience group from First Covenant Church in Eureka. This incredible team of young leaders, many of whom have returned 3-4 times to serve San Francisco through Urban Exchange, spent their 3-day trip pioneering new service opportunities and locations to explore possibilities for future groups and set an exciting precedent for what the upcoming year of loving our neighbor by meeting real city challenges will look like.

We are so encouraged by how God moved in and through them.

We observed group members begin to draw parallels between San Francisco and their home city:

"We have a Tenderloin. We have hotspots of homelessness.... Everything we do here, we can do in Eureka."

We witnessed group members take brave steps into compassionate action and servant-hearted leadership:

"I would absolutely adore to take this [leadership role] head on. It might be rough because I’ve never done something like this before, but I’ve been wanting to do something like this since I first came."

We watched the group return home with excitement, hope, and a plan to make meaningful change in their own community:

"Something significant is starting. I’m saying this now so I can’t back out later."

“The amount of influence we have in Eureka – our families, our jobs, our resources – we could do a lot.”

We are so excited for what God will do through them and so privileged to have been a part of it.

We will be loving our adopted neighborhood school – Bret Harte Elementary School – its teachers, and its students by meeting their biggest current needs: donation of necessary classroom supplies, deep cleaning, organizing, painting, and potentially gardening.
