A Year in Review (2025)

Just in the month of March 2025, we had some significant accomplishments:

  • Knit & Spin under new ownership!

  • Installed Wi-Fi / Internet

  • Modernized our point-of-sale system

  • Designed and implemented bar code scanner system

  • Business operating agreement and LLC registered with the IRS and state of Michigan

  • Business signage (road sign, grand reopening banner, feather flag) purchased/installed, after redesigning the shop logo

  • Cleaned/reorganized shop, relocated cats

  • Opened business accounts, ordered business cards / logo stickers / shopping bags

  • Established accounts with suppliers, ordered/stocked products to boost inventory

  • Reopened on March 31st, and had significant turn-out with essentially no advertising

Once we reopened, we got to work ordering more products and increasing our inventory.  In April, we had over two dozen participants in our first KAL!

We were unable to participate in the West Michigan Yarn Quest, since we missed the registration deadline; but we had great success with the Heartland Yarn Adventure in July and August, and with Fall in Love with Fiber in the Fall.

In June, we started hosting classes.  Our Beginning Knitting, Beginning Crochet, Beginning Spinning, and Beginning Weaving classes all had maximum attendance! Additionally, our two Sock Knitting classes were very well attended.

By July, we had a shop full of inventory!  And by last Fall, we were stocked with 20 commercial brands of yarn, and we partnered with many local artisans to sell their finished products in the shop.

By September, our social media accounts were established, and we began posting pictures of our inventory and unboxing videos.

In December, our website and online store were finally fully operational, giving our customers the ability to search/order/pay for products online, and we began shipping products across the country!  And we just sent out our first informational email to our customers!

None of these tremendous successes would have been possible without our wonderful partners, the White Lake community, our Executive Yarn Council and our very loyal customer base!

To celebrate our 2025 successes, we are offering 15% off all our inventory (excluding locally sourced products) during the entire month of January!  This discount can be combined with other discounts and sales offered in the shop!

Looking forward to 2026, here is a sample of what to expect:

  • a monthly newsletter, and weekly emails highlighting sales, new products, classes, workshops, CALs / KALs, patterns, etc.

  • an expanded product line

  • requests for your input to make Knit and Spin even better!

Kind Regards,

Knit and Spin
