As we slowly transition to spring, my thoughts turn towards harvesting fresh lettuce, arugula and kale from my garden.  And anxious to see how my native garden plot will do this year.  Of course, the reality is, I'll be getting exercise chasing away the groundhog from my veggies and hoping the deer won't tear up my fruit trees.  But such is living with nature.

     Our Oral History Archive continues to grow and I'm excited that hundreds of interviews over twenty years will live again once more.  But its sad to notice that so many of these elders are gone.  I feel blessed that there stories will live on and hopefully encourage younger generations to pick up on the wealth of their knowledge and skills before they're lost.  To watch/listen to the growing Archive, find it HERE.

     Work has finally begun on our new short documentary on the Cherokee's connection to rivercane.  It was the "plastic" of their world (in a good sense) because it was everything from a food source to a resource for artisan crafts.  In a throwaway society like ours, examples of living with nature to me are always an encouragement.  I'm shooting to release this film this fall as part of our new series we're developing, Voice of the Mountains and the Hollers.  Stay tuned for more information as this project unfolds.  We still need to raise funds to pay for music, animation and graphics, so please consider earmarking a donation for our film fund.
