Children Who were Not Allowed to Love their Father

A theme that has recurred over and again this month has been the impact of what happens, when a man is excluded from the family system, whether he was excluded because of violence, addiction, absence, unfaithfulness, or simply excluded by the women for their own reasons.

The impact on the child is this:

  • Loving him is betrayal.

  • Missing him is disloyal.

  • Being like him is dangerous.

But children need both parents - they ARE both parents, ,so the exclusion means the child has to split off part of themselves.

And that split can show up later as:

And when it happens two or three generations back it can leave the current generation confused about why they feel they may have some of the following problems

  • Difficulty with men - or difficulty being comfortable with being a man

  • Success or money sabotage

  • Difficulty thriving, or guilt if you do

  • Chronic self-criticism

  • Feeling like you don't belong.

When we exclude someone, a child binds to them in secret, and then these secrets pass down the generations until you get to a generation who simply do not understand what is going on.

For some reason this pattern has shown up in 3 separate groups this past week which makes me think it timely to announce: Standing in the Line of Men - and Women (see below)

STANDING IN THE LINE OF MEN: STANDING IN THE LINE OF WOMEN on 18th - 19th April

And if you can't wait or have other issues you want to put to rest, the next constellation day is Sunday 29th March

Standing in the Line of Women: Standing in the Line of Men  28-29 March

This has all the hallmarks of being a most awesome weekend!

The Standing in the Line of Women days has been profound for all the women who have participated and created change and momentum in their lives.

When men have witnessed these sessions they leave with a renewed commitment to championing Good Men and holding to account those who have abused their power.

When women have witnessed their male counterparts standing in their line, they are profoundly moved and have more compassion and respect for men.

In these times when the corruption of the powerful is coming more into our public focus, I genuinely believe these sessions create change.  Not simply personal change, that we all desire and long for, but also change in public spaces.  As we hold each other with more respect, we can step into our strength and demand accountability from the powerful, when in past generations people had no choice but to look away.

I know there will be people who would prefer the privacy of a single-sex space.  And I will hold these again, but I am also excited to hold a day for men and women together to do these sessions.

I do hope you will be able to come - and or if you know someone who would be interested, please forward details to them.

I am always banging on about joining as a representative and I shall do so again.  Coming to represent regularly is a wonderful experience, you become part of a regular group of people who know you in a deep deep way, but may not know your address.  My regulars repeatedly tell me how much this work has changed their lives, not simply through the transformation of a one off event, but through the regular participating and building of trust, intuition and compassion that comes out of regular attendance.
