19th February 2026 marks one year since the formal inauguration of the TORG-IRB, a milestone that reflects our unwavering commitment to ethical integrity, accountability, and excellence in global surgery and allied health research.
Since its inauguration on 𝟭𝟵 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, the TORG-IRB has rapidly evolved into a structured, internationally recognised ethics body supporting high-quality research across diverse health system contexts.

• 24 February 2025: Official opening of research ethics proposal submissions
• 20 April 2025: Strategic expansion of the IRB, strengthening multidisciplinary and international representation
• 29 June 2025: Successful hosting of the Inaugural Ethics Congress
o Theme: “Ethics in Global Surgery Research: Foundations, Challenges, and Best Practices”. Focus areas included global ethical frameworks, research involving vulnerable populations, and emerging surgical paradigms

As we enter our second year, we are pleased to announce the appointment of 𝗗𝗿. 𝗜𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗶 as 𝘚𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘺 (𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘧𝘭𝘰𝘸 & 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦), 𝘛𝘖𝘙𝘎-𝘐𝘙𝘉, effective 𝟏𝟗 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔. Dr. Bakshi brings strong governance expertise, research and peer-review experience, and demonstrated leadership within TORG. His appointment aligns with our transition to a structured digital submission system and enhanced compliance framework and workflow.
