Coast Guard, partners seize 2 vessels with $5.6 million in illicit narcotics off Fort Lauderdale

MIAMI – A U.S. Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale law enforcement boat crew along with Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations officers and Homeland Security Investigations agents seized approximately 745 pounds of cocaine worth an estimated $5.6 million, from two suspected drug smuggling vessels off Port Everglades.

Coast Guard Sector Western Alaska and U.S. Arctic updates contact information

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Coast Guard has changed the contact information for Sector Western Alaska and U.S. Arctic staff offices and other units throughout Western Alaska as part of a service-wide telephone modernization directive, Thursday, Feb. 12.

The main phone line for the sector can now be reached at (206) 815-7100. 

Callers will be presented with a phone tree, providing them with options to contact one of the following:

US Coast Guard commissions fast response cutter Frederick Mann

The US Coast Guard commissioned its newest Sentinel-class fast response cutter (FRC), USCGC Frederick Mann, for official entry into service during a ceremony held in Kodiak, Alaska, on Friday, February 13.

Frederick Mann is the coast guard’s 60th FRC and the third to be homeported at Coast Guard Base Kodiak. The cutter's crew will primarily serve in and ar​​ound the Aleutian Islands, the Bering Sea, the Gulf of Alaska, and the North Pacific Ocean.

The cutter is designed for missions such as search and rescue; fishery patrols; drug and migrant interdiction; national defence; and ports, waterways, and coastal security.
