| GFN ScienceLab returns for the third time at GFN26, offering the opportunity for you to present and discuss your tobacco harm reduction related research with the GFN audience in person. |
The GFN team knows that you have been working on some amazing research projects since we were last together in Warsaw - but presentation spots are limited and we don’t want you to miss the chance to showcase your work. |
GFN ScienceLab grew from the hugely popular GFN Fives, where we have been curating and showcasing your tobacco harm reduction video updates, news, and insights since 2021 in the form of your 5-minute videos. All scientific GFN Five submissions can be considered for the GFN ScienceLab sessions, which take place within the conference programme at the in-person event in Warsaw. |
If your video is selected, you will be invited to present a 15-minute session (including the 5-minute screening of your GFN Five) to share and discuss your research with the GFN audience in Warsaw. |
To see how GFN ScienceLab sessions work, please visit this playlist featuring the multitude of excellent discussions from last year’s event. |
The content for your video might include lab-based research, epidemiological research, modelling, market research on consumer behaviour, discussing results – or expected results – of studies. The content should be science focussed and must not include promotional material. |
The deadline for submitting is 17 April 2026, but remember that GFN ScienceLab sessions are popular, so early submissions are encouraged. |
If you can’t make it to Warsaw your GFN Five may still be published and promoted on the GFN Website and social media platforms, along with all other accepted GFN Five submissions. |
Need some inspiration? Take a look at some of our favourite Science Lab submissions: Marewa Glover presents the key findings of the Voices of the 5% Study, a 4-year longitudinal qualitative study of New Zealand adults who used vapes but had no intention of quitting smoking. Arielle Selya examines the common flaws in observational research on e-cigarettes. This Science Lab discussion also looks at the impacts these flaws can have on research conclusions and makes suggestions on how to improve future studies. Roberto Sussman provides a critique of e-cigarette aerosol studies and discusses the methodological problems that persist with emission studies, such as overheating coils to produce aldehydes and manufacturing harms. Giusy Rita Maria La Rosa's systematic review and network meta-analysis of 36 randomised control trials examines the oral health effects of non-combustible nicotine products.

Opportunity to organise a workshop or discussion at GFN26 |
There are a very limited number of 90 minute slots available on the GFN26 programme for workshops or panel discussions. If you would like to organise a session please send us a brief synopsis soon. The focus for your session should be aligned with the GFN26 theme of ‘prohibition and public health’. |
