November 7, 2025 (Santa Barbara, CA) // Southern California’s Djentrified, the solo project of Cousteau, has released the official music video for Welcome to the Abyss.” Premiering on Cool Happy Genius Heroes, it's an intense piece that deeply explores violence and questions what it means to have empathy in a chaotic, corrupt and desensitized world.

The video features Cousteau giving an impassioned, fury filled performance in a dimly lit “abyss.” His moves show both anger and despair interspliced with real - life news clips of some of modern history’s most pivotal and traumatic headlines. 9/11, George Floyd's murder, Rodney King being beaten by police, the January 6th riot, Sandy Hook each have their moment in the song with countless other scenes taken from riots, school shootings, and war zones. By confronting these images directly, Welcome to the Abyss rejects numbness and forces its audience to reckon with the moral cost of looking away.

Sonically, “Welcome to the Abyss” mixes musical prowess with real guttural feeling. The song has hard-changing breakdowns and vocals, making the listeners feel both shaken and restored. It shows where metal can be a way of facing up to things. Where sadness, anger, and collide, co-existing in each of us. .

With this release, Djentrified reaffirms its mission to confront injustice without surrendering to cynicism. Welcome to the Abyss serves as both an awakening and a reminder that even in the darkest spaces, feeling is the first act of resistance.
