October 2025 Reviews

Hello, everyone!

WE MADE IT! October is over, the longest sprint is almost done, the holidays and days off are almost here. I don't know about y'all, but I'm EXHAUSTED. I've managed to squeeze in a few reads between traveling and falling asleep too early. Here are some great graphic novels for you to peruse and consider purchasing for your libraries.

I also went to AASL 2025 this month and got to meet and catch up with friends IRL. Thanks to everyone who said hi and came to the sessions. For those who couldn't make it, you know I got the hook ups for you!

AASL Session Resouces

AASL 2025 was all about our book, Manga Goes to School. I presented several sessions with my co-authors, Ashley Hawkins, Julie Stivers, and Emily Ratica. Co-author Mouna Touré unfortunaly could not attend due to cuts in funding to public libraries. We were all so excited to do what essentially was a book tour of AASL and share the love of manga to all who attended our sessions. Below are the links to our presentations and resources.

George is trying to live his life under the radar as much as possible. He wants to write the next great American novel, but many of life’s worries pile up and cause crippling writer’s block. For starters, he’s living in a trailer behind his parent’s house, he has a year left under their insurance, and he’s developed type 1 diabetes. While most adults don’t develop type 1 later in life, George’s diagnosis came with another development: impenetrable skin and near imperviousness to damage.
