Strengthening Regional Partnerships Across Asia

Adelaide Education Group (AEG) President Don Chen is on a strategic engagement series across Malaysia, Cambodia, and Sri Lanka, meeting with leading universities and colleges to explore opportunities for collaboration, pathways, and student mobility.

Across all three countries, Mr Chen shares AEG’s vision for an integrated education ecosystem spanning higher education, vocational training, secondary schooling, and English language programs. These conversations open exciting prospects for joint initiatives, academic cooperation, faculty and student exchanges, and new pathways into AEG’s institutions, including Adelaide Institute of Higher Education (AIHE), Adelaide Institute of Business and Technology (AIBT), Adelaide International School (AIS), and the Intensive English Language Centre (IELC).

We are grateful to our partner institutions for their warm welcome and their shared commitment to expanding access, strengthening quality, and creating meaningful global opportunities for students.

AEG looks forward to building on these productive discussions and deepening our partnerships across the region.

StudyAdelaide Agent Briefing Sessions in Cambodia, Indonesia, and the Philippines

The AEG was pleased to take part in the StudyAdelaide Agent Briefing Sessions in Phnom Penh, Jakarta, and Manila, joining fellow South Australian providers to showcase the strength, diversity, and global opportunities across our education ecosystem.

Across both cities, our team engaged with dedicated education agents and partners who play a vital role in guiding students toward pathways in Adelaide. It was a valuable opportunity to highlight the breadth of programs across AIHE, AIBT and AIS - and to share how our supportive, student-centred approach continues to create real outcomes for learners from around the world.

Thank you to StudyAdelaide for organising these insightful sessions and to all our partners who spent time with us. We look forward to strengthening our connections in Cambodia and the Philippines and welcoming more students to Adelaide and Melbourne in 2026.

AI Capability for Growth and Innovation across AEG

We were fortunate to host Dr Jinan Zou for a thought-provoking session on AI Capability for Growth and Innovation across AEG. The session was held at our Adelaide campus and beamed live to our Melbourne campus, allowing our teams across AIHE, AIBT, and AIS to learn together as one ecosystem.

Dr Zou shared valuable insights on the rapidly evolving landscape of AI in education, from detecting AI in student work and navigating ethical boundaries to designing authentic AI-resilient assessments and leveraging AI tools for teaching, learning, and organisational transformation. His discussion on developing AI-aware leaders was particularly relevant as we continue to strengthen our strategic capability across the group.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. Events like this support our commitment to continuous learning and innovation across AEG.

Academic Board New Member

AIHE is delighted to welcome Dr Joanne Barker to the AIHE.

Dr Barker brings exceptional expertise to our community as an international education consultant and global mobility researcher with a distinguished career spanning nearly two decades. She previously served for 18 years as Director International at two Australian universities, contributed to the Academic Board of the South Australian Institute of Business & Technology (SAIBT), and twice served on the Board of the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA). From 2014 to 2018, she represented Australasia as an invited member of the US-based TOEFL Board.

Her research and policy contributions are equally impressive. Dr Barker’s PhD centred on evaluation in government international scholarship programs, and since 2018 she has undertaken ongoing consulting work for DFAT’s Australia Awards. More recently, she has been engaged in research on professional global mobility with the Australian APEC Study Centre at RMIT.

We look forward to the insights, global perspectives, and deep sector knowledge that Dr Barker will bring to our academic community and to the continued strengthening of AIHE’s international education and mobility strategy.

Welcome, Dr Barker to AIHE and to the AEG. We are thrilled to have you with us.

TEQSA 9th Annual Conference

The AIHE of the AEG was proudly represented at the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) 2025 Conference in Melbourne by its CEO, Fatima Reyes, and Head of School Dr Wasana Jayawickramarathna.

This year’s theme, Trust, Transparency, Transformation, resonated strongly with AIHE’s commitment to strengthening quality, governance, and student outcomes across our Adelaide and Melbourne campuses. The conversations on regulatory expectations, sector risk, and the future of higher education provided valuable insights that will help guide our ongoing work as part of the AEG.

Thank you to TEQSA and all presenters and delegates for an engaging and thought-provoking conference. We look forward to applying these learnings as we continue to build a trusted, transparent, and transformative student experience at AIHE.

Year 12 Graduation Dinner

Our Year 12 Graduation Dinner was a wonderful way to honour the Class of 2025 and the stories, achievements, and hopes they take with them as they step into the next chapter.

Our School Captains, Bianca and John, captured the spirit of AIS so well – celebrating diversity, friendship, and the promise to carry their AIS experience with them wherever they go. Their message of finding hope along the journey and turning goodbyes into commitments was felt by everyone.

AIS Principal Shaun Oakey encouraged our graduates to step confidently into the world, build connections, and share their strengths boldly. His reflections on courage and resilience left a lasting impression.

AIS also welcomed its alumnus Parsa Salari, whose message on asking good questions, taking risks, and embracing opportunities beyond their comfort zones gave our students a genuine glimpse of what is possible.

Joseph Koszegi, Daily Organiser and Operations Manager, who hosted the evening, reminded our graduates of the friendships formed, the challenges overcome, and the moments that have shaped them throughout their AIS journey.

Noel Mifsud, Chair of the AIS Advisory Board, highlighted education as a powerful gift – one that gives our graduates the ability to shape the future in meaningful ways.

Thank you to all our guests for the warmth, support, and sense of community you brought to the evening.

To the Class of 2025, congratulations. We are proud of who you are and look forward to seeing all that you will achieve.

That Dance Co. Dance Class

The dance session at AIS brought incredible energy and enthusiasm to the campus! Students stepped out of their routines and onto the dance floor, learning four different dance styles — Boston Two-Step, Merengue, Nutbush, and Waltz. Each rhythm offered something new, giving students the chance to challenge themselves, move with confidence, and enjoy a fun, active break from academics.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to That Dance Co. for their continuous partnership and for filling our classes with passion, positivity, and engaging instruction. Their dedication ensures that every student experience is memorable and inclusive.

With the room buzzing from today’s excitement, we’re already looking forward to the next opportunity to dance, learn, and keep the energy high at AIS!

Science Practical Experiment

Our students recently dove into an exciting Science Practical Experiment, investigating how different types of balls — from lightweight table tennis balls to heavy basketballs — bounce and transfer energy. Through observation and measurement, they explored how mass, material, and design affect the efficiency of energy transfer.

This engaging activity gave students a real-world look at energy efficiency, a concept that plays a major role in sports technology, engineering solutions, and even sustainable product design. By seeing science in action, students were able to connect classroom learning to everyday life — and to future possibilities.

A big shoutout to Teacher Joel Ruffino for leading the class and creating an interactive environment that inspires curiosity and discovery.

Cambridge Online Info Session

Our Cambridge Online Info Session last November 5 was a great opportunity to connect with our education agents and partners. Principal Shaun Oakley kicked things off with an overview of the Cambridge curriculum, followed by Teacher Sally Xu, our Cambridge Coordinator, who shared the key advantages of earning a Cambridge certificate. Teacher Joseph, our Biology teacher, then provided valuable insight into how Science — particularly Biology — is taught differently in the Cambridge program compared to other curricula.

Some of the major key takeaways included the strong advantages of the Cambridge pathway, from higher ATAR conversion outcomes for A Level students to broader access to universities worldwide. The session created meaningful conversations, allowing our agents and partners to ask questions, clarify details, and better understand how Cambridge can open more opportunities for international students. We were also pleased to be joined by Ms Fatima Reyes-Della Verde, AEG’s Head of Advancement.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to the discussion. Until the next one.
