Evan Bayh nailed it — when one party controls everything, the results look less like governance and more like a clearance sale at the corruption outlet mall. From $92,000 luxury SUVs to six-figure jobs for in-laws and mystery world tours funded by who-knows-who, Indiana’s ruling class has turned “public service” into a punchline. Bayh and Donnelly didn’t need to exaggerate — the receipts speak for themselves. And as Bayh quipped, it’s time to grab a broom, because the Statehouse stench isn’t going away on its own.

RoQita sues IPS after it refused to hand student over to ICE in January

So now Todd Rokita, Indiana’s “law-and-order” Attorney General, is hauling Indianapolis Public Schools into court for refusing to turn over a student to federal immigration agents — apparently the school asked for a warrant, which apparently ruined Rokita’s fun. Guess he found a new lawsuit to fill his offseason activities list.

Money, Trump And The Media

The longer we suffer the agony of the Trump administration and its assaults on governance, science, logic and basic decency, the more I become convinced that our current information environment is largely responsible. The enormous growth of online propaganda is partially to blame for the fact that 37% of Americans still tell pollsters they approve of Trump.

Anti-redistricting sentiment twice as intense as support among Indiana voters, poll finds

In a statewide survey of 800 registered voters, 51% didn’t want redistricting now — with 45% “strongly” opposed. About 39% supported the prospect, but just 23% “strongly” backed it.

MAGA Congressional candidate says he supports Indiana redistricting, even though it could change his campaign

Craig Haggard’s congressional campaign is less about policy and more about making sure no one forgets his name — literally, since it’s plastered all over his van. Between folksy breakfast chats and selfies at every café in 16 counties, Haggard says he’s running wherever Trump’s new map tells him to. Apparently, democracy can wait while Republicans redraw the lines to make sure his “small-town” charm doesn’t have to compete in an actual fair district.

Fight continues over proposed ban on driver’s license gender changes

Advocates for transgender Hoosiers are keeping up their fight against plans by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles to stop allowing gender changes on driver’s licenses.

Now as his 29-year-old son Beau Bayh is following in his father’s footsteps, making his first foray into the political arena as a Democrat candidate for secretary of state, one of his first campaign stops was in Greencastle last Wednesday for a Putnam County Democrat gathering at The Whisk.

Indiana health agency plans furloughs because of federal shutdown

State health officials confirmed Thursday it had notified 48 employees that they could temporarily lose their jobs effective Nov. 9 if the federal shutdown that began Oct. 1 isn’t resolved.

Banks is top lap dog for Trump's bid to end filibuster

Summary: Jim Banks has happily signed on as Donald Trump’s cheerleader in the drive to scrap the filibuster — because nothing says “we respect Senate tradition” like ditching rules when your party holds the white-house. He says the filibuster is blocking GOP goals like voter-ID laws and budget cuts, so of course he wants to eliminate a minority-right that years ago his side defended with zeal.

The affordability crisis, once Biden's, is now Trump's

President Trump and the GOP — almost always seen as stronger than Democrats on economic questions — suddenly find themselves in the same hole former President Biden fell into and never climbed out of:

“Kathy Hochul is the Worst Governor in America,” Stefanik said in the post. “Under her failed leadership, New York is the most unaffordable state in the nation with the highest taxes, highest energy, utilities, rent, and grocery bills. When New Yorkers were looking for leadership from our Governor, she bent the knee to the raging Defund the Police, Tax Hiking Communist causing catastrophe for New York families.”

Thanksgiving turkey 75% pricier this year!

AMERICANS are bracing to cough up more cash this year for their Thanksgiving feasts, with one staple set to jump in price by 25%.

Billionaire Trump Doesn’t 'Want To Hear About The Affordability' Problem Many Americans Are Facing

“I don’t want to hear about the affordability, because right now, we’re much less,” he said as he touted a Walmart Thanksgiving dinner package that costs 25% less than last year’s version.

That meal, however, contains fewer items than last year’s bundle and includes more generic items instead of national brands.

MTG says rising costs are a 'five-alarm fire' — and accuses Republicans of ignoring it

"I think it's going to start looking like chaos, really. Many people are very worried about this. It's causing a lot of anxiety. Many people are already struggling day-to day, month-to-month with the cost of living. It is has remained high," she said. "... And with this upcoming crisis, with health insurance premiums skyrocketing, I think this is like a five-alarm fire."
