INSIDE-CoVE at a glance

INSIDE-CoVE transforms vocational education and training (VET) for the construction sector by developing future-ready skills and inclusive approaches. It creates innovative curricula, builds business-education alliances, and promotes an entrepreneurial culture. The project also explores sustainable financial strategies for Centres of Vocational Excellence across Europe.

Meet our Coordinator: the Architectural Aluminium Academy

The Architectural Aluminium Academy (AAA) is proud to serve as the Project Coordinator for the INSIDE-CoVE project.

AAA is a Competence Centre and Innovation Cluster focused on the aluminium frame systems sector. The cluster brings together two leading Greek educational institutions, the University of Macedonia and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The cluster also brings together a dynamic ecosystem of SME technology providers, industrial enterprises, including Alumil, the largest aluminium extrusion company in Southeastern Europe, as well as wholesale distributors and other key industry players.

Certified as an official Lifelong Learning Centre, AAA offers dedicated facilities for classes, seminars, and hands-on technical training.

Through the INSIDE-CoVE Erasmus+ Project, AAA is committed to driving innovation in the aluminium sector, not only in Greece, but across Europe, by promoting sustainable solutions, advancing skills, and ultimately giving back to society.

INSIDE-CoVE Kicks Off in Thessaloniki: Building Europe’s Future in Construction VET

The INSIDE-CoVE project officially launched with a dynamic two-day kick-off meeting held in Thessaloniki, Greece, on March 11–12, 2025. The hybrid event brought together representatives from 26 partner organizations across Europe, including VET providers, universities, NGOs, and industry leaders. The meeting marked the beginning of a four-year journey to transform vocational education in the architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) sectors.

INSIDE-CoVE National CoVES

Each National Centre of Vocational Excellence plays a crucial role in achieving the project goals and meeting the needs of the construction sector, in line with regional EC RIS3 strategies.

INSIDE-CoVE in Spain

Developing skills in building digital twin technologies and automation, particularly in the clusters of Barcelona and Valencia represented in the INSIDE-CoVE project.

INSIDE-CoVE in Greece

Prioritising aluminium architectural systems due to their significant importance in Greece, as the leading producer of bauxite ore and ranking seventh in primary aluminium production in Europe.

INSIDE-CoVE in Ireland

Concentrating on green buildings and circular construction, emphasising energy efficiency and sustainability throughout the building lifecycle.

INSIDE-CoVE in Germany

Integrating smart buildings, innovative facades, energy-saving systems, and green building envelopes and including advanced building management, automation, smart home, and IoT applications.

Future-Ready Skills Mapping

Within the second Work Package "Future-Ready Skills Mapping" , the INSIDE-CoVE project has developed recently two complementary outputs: the Industry Needs Analysis Report and the Skills and Competencies Map. Together, they provide a comprehensive picture of the evolving skills landscape in the European construction sector and serve as a foundation for designing forward-looking vocational education and training (VET) strategies.

Building Quality in the INSIDE-CoVE Project

By June 2025, the INSIDE-CoVE project reached an important milestone with the successful and timely delivery of the Quality Assurance Plan (D9.1). This achievement reflects the strong teamwork and commitment of all partners, who now share a clear roadmap for ensuring quality and collaboration throughout the project. With well-defined roles, supportive processes, and user-friendly tools available on SharePoint, the consortium is better prepared to track progress, address challenges early, and celebrate successes together.

Upcoming INSIDE-CoVE Events

1st INSIDE-CoVE Multiplier Event in Greece

We are pleased to announce the 1st Multiplier Event of the INSIDE-CoVE Project, titled “Building Skills for the Future Workforce through Training and Innovation: Insights from the INSIDE-CoVE Project”.

The event will take place on Monday, 3 November 2025, at the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, Greece, and will be held in a hybrid format, allowing participation both in person and online. The event will provide an opportunity to learn about the INSIDE-CoVE project, understand the importance of acquiring and certifying key skills for the future, and explore best practices presented by project partners.

BEEYONDERS workshop

“Building the future of roads & structures”

BEEYONDERS is an EU-funded project that develops innovative, worker-centred technologies for the construction sector, and of which we are an active consortium member. This workshop will look at how new technologies are reshaping construction – from autonomous machines and aerial robots to wearables, exoskeletons, and digital twins. These solutions are already being tested on pilot sites across Europe, offering practical insights into safer, smarter, and more efficient ways of building and maintaining infrastructure.
