We'd like to introduce you to Heather S. (left) and Julie C. (right), our fall FNP Student Residents. They're here for their clinical hours learning about functional medicine under Amy.
Meet Heather:
"My name is Heather and I am a FNP Resident Student with Post University. I graduated from nursing school 32 years ago but have spent a large number of those years raising and homeschooling our 5 children. For the last 5 years I have worked primarily in Wound Care, which I have enjoyed.
I chose Karis Integrative Medicine for my Woman’s Health preceptorship because they practice medicine holistically, with the goal of looking for the root cause of illness, rather than treating and medicating symptoms. This aligns with the way I would like to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the future and I am grateful to Amy for precepting me!"
Meet Julie:
"My name is Julie and currently, I am pursuing my Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Hawai‘i Pacific University, with the goal of advancing my practice to provide holistic, evidence-based care. My clinical strengths include patient education, preventative health, and integrative approaches to wellness that emphasize the mind-body connection. I am passionate about bridging conventional medicine with supportive, complementary therapies to optimize outcomes for patients and their families.
I chose Karis Integrative Medicine because its philosophy closely aligns with my personal and professional values. The clinic’s commitment to blending traditional medical practices with integrative and holistic approaches resonates with my belief that healing requires more than treating symptoms, it involves addressing the root causes of illness, supporting lifestyle changes, and promoting whole-person health."
Be sure to say hello to Heather and Julie next time you're in!
