What has NVCA been up to? Lots!

The Nottawasaga watershed is a living, breathing network of rivers, creeks, and forests—and it thrives when people take part in its care. This fall, there are many ways to get involved and make a real difference.

Restoring the Nottawasaga River

NVCA staff and a volunteer install revetments in a portion of the Nottawasaga river

Work along the Nottawasaga River continues thanks to funding from the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's Outdoor Fund. Restoration projects focus on improving water quality, stabilizing riverbanks, and creating healthy habitats for fish, turtles, and other wildlife. Volunteers are the heart of this work, helping plant native vegetation, install habitat features, and monitor wildlife. Every hand makes the river stronger—volunteer and be part of a lasting positive impact on this vital waterway.

Get involved by volunteering today!

TD Tree Days are Back!

TD Tree Days events this September and October offer the perfect chance to give back to the land. Planting native trees and shrubs not only beautifies the landscape but also protects soil, supports wildlife, and helps the watershed stay resilient. Join a local TD Tree Days event and leave a lasting mark on your community’s environment.

This fall, NVCA staff spoke with over 1,700 people at the Barrie Fall Fair about the workings of the Nottawasaga watershed and the creatures living in it—especially turtles! Engaging with the community is a vital part of helping the watershed thrive, raising awareness about local habitats, and inspiring people to take action to protect them.
