What are we working on at EDFA?

The next EDFA Supervisory Board meeting is just around the corner

Our Q3 Supervisory Board Meeting will take place in Budapest on September 9th, hosted by EFISZ. It will be a valuable opportunity for in-person collaboration, strategic dialogue, and community building. As part of the program, a dedicated meeting between EDFA and the Central Bank of Hungary will also take place: it will be an exciting opportunity to deepen institutional ties and exchange perspectives on the future of financial innovation.



Fintech Cafè d’Europe - 3rd session

The third edition of Fintech Café d’Europe took place on Monday, September 1st. This informal and open gathering brings together fintech associations from across Europe and beyond to exchange ideas, share insights, and strengthen collaboration on the future of digital finance.

    Call for Evidence on the 28th Regime

    The European Commission has launched a consultation on the creation of the 28th Regime - an optional EU-wide legal framework to help innovative companies overcome barriers caused by divergent national rules. Further context can be found in the Draft Report and the Procedure File (2025/2079(INL)).

    We strongly encourage organisations with relevant insights or experience to contribute to this consultation.

    Consultation on the future European Innovation Act

    The European Commission has opened a consultation on the European Innovation Act, a key element of the EU Startup and Scaleup Strategy. The initiative aims to create a more innovation-friendly environment by easing access to finance, talent, and infrastructure, and by reducing Single Market fragmentation.

    The consultation is open until 3 October 2025.

          EDFA Board Members Join GECA’s Steering Committee

          We’re proud to share that Karsten Wenzlaff and Florence de Maupeou, members of the EDFA Supervisory Board, have joined the Steering Committee of the Global Equity Crowdfunding Alliance (GECA). GECA is an international organization committed to promoting regulatory harmonization, market development, and best practices in equity crowdfunding across the globe.

          Their appointment marks a new step in strengthening European representation in global fintech dialogues.

                Our Latest Position Paper on the Retail Investor Journey

                The European Digital Finance Association has released its newest  Position Paper in response to ESMA’s consultation on the retail investor experience. This document represents the unified voice of Fintech associations and crowdfunding platforms across Europe, advocating for smarter regulation, broader access, and stronger protections for individual investors.

                Key principles include transparency, financial inclusion, interactive education, and data-driven portfolio diversification.

                    💡ItaliaFintech calls for smarter regulation on Crypto supervision fees
                    ItaliaFintech has submitted a position paper to CONSOB as part of the consultation on supervisory contributions under MiCAR and Legislative Decree 129/2024. The paper warns that introducing new fees too quickly could hinder the growth of Italy’s crypto sector and shift competitiveness abroad. It calls for a 24-month suspension, a public-private strategy table, streamlined authorization processes, and more transparent use of supervisory resources.
