Filipino Community Town Hall Event

It was an honour for the AEG to join the Filipino Community Town Hall Event hosted by the Philippine Consulate in Adelaide, led by the Philippines' Honorary Consul Ms. Carmen Garcia AM.

The presence of His Excellency Antonio A. Morales, Philippine Ambassador to Australia, and Hon. Jesus (Gary) R. S. Domingo, Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne, gave the event greater depth and significance. Their reflections highlighted how the Philippines and Australia elevated their bilateral relationship to a Strategic Partnership in 2023, marking a milestone in cooperation across education, defence, trade, maritime security, and people-to-people ties.

Education and student mobility were part of the discussion on vital areas of collaboration. With thousands of Filipino students choosing Australia for higher and vocational education, these exchanges are strengthening futures while deepening cultural, professional, and social links between our nations.

It was also inspiring to hear from Filipino community leaders in South Australia who continue to support Filipinos locally, extend help to Filipinos back in the Philippines, and work hard to keep Filipino culture and traditions alive for the succeeding generations. The community warmly welcomed the consultation and dialogue with Ambassador Morales and Consul General Domingo, whose presence underscored the importance of partnership and listening to the voices of Filipinos in South Australia.

AEG's AIBT and Adelaide International School (AIS) express their genuine excitement for the appointment of the new Philippine Ambassador to Australia and the Consul General, especially with our growing campuses in Adelaide and Melbourne. Their collective leadership will play a vital role in strengthening bilateral relations between the Philippines and Australia and in providing dedicated support to our Filipino communities, including our students, across the region.

50th Anniversary Celebration

It was a privilege for the AEG to take part in the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Australia-Philippines Business Council and the Philippines Australia Business Council (PABC) held in Adelaide.

This milestone provided an important opportunity to recognise five decades of business, cultural, and community partnerships that have strengthened ties between Australia and the Philippines.

Inspiring messages were shared by Rafael Toda, President of APBC; Dennis A. Quintero, Chairman of PABC; and Claire Marie Yvonne Lee, Executive Director of the Collaborative Future Alliance, highlighting the achievements of the councils and the path forward.

We were deeply honoured by the presence of His Excellency Antonio A. Morales, Philippine Ambassador to Australia; Hon. Jesus (Gary) R. S. Domingo, Consul General in Melbourne; Jill Collins, State Director for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Carmen Garcia AM, Honorary Consul for South Australia, whose participation underscored the importance of the milestone event.

As we commemorated this 50-year journey, we also reaffirmed our commitment to future opportunities for collaboration that will continue to enrich bilateral relations and advance shared prosperity.

Term 3 General Assembly

AIS opened the new school term with a General Assembly that was more than just a welcome—it was a chance to share wisdom, culture, and encouragement.

Lithasha set the tone with fascinating facts about Australia, from its Indigenous history and wildlife to natural wonders like pink lakes and glowing bays. Bianca reminded Year 12 students that beyond exams are friendships, memories, and milestones worth celebrating. Meanwhile, Kieu and Zia shared practical advice for thriving in a homestay: communicate openly, respect house rules, and embrace Aussie culture with curiosity.

Principal Shaun Oakey welcomed all students this term, highlighting the unique journeys through EAP or the SACE program, each designed to help learners grow, connect, and prepare for the future.

With inspiring words and warm guidance, the assembly set the stage for a meaningful and exciting Term 3.

Welcome back, AIS students!
