Invitation to SEFI General Assembly 2025 – for SEFI members

Tuesday, 16 September 2025, 17:30 to 19:00 (Finnish time). 



This year, the General Assemby will be held in hybrid format at Tampere University, Finland, with the occasion of the SEFI 2025 Annual Conference.The purpose of the General Assembly is to present SEFI’s activities over the past year and plans for the future, report on financial matters and vote on the budget, elect new Board members, the President, and Vice-President. All individual members, as well as the main points of contact for institutional, associate, and corporate members, are invited to attend or to nominate a proxy in accordance with Article 8 of the SEFI Statutes.

You may register here or send a proxy until 10 September - Kindly note that no extensions will be granted. Download the agenda here.

If you do not have voting rights, registration is not required, but you are still welcome to attend the General Assembly.

    SEFI CONFERENCE

    Meet the SEFI Special Interest Groups at SEFI 2025

    The SEFI Special Interest Groups (SIGs) bring together educators, students, and industry professionals who share common interests in specific areas of engineering education. Their activities include organising meetings, workshops, seminars, SEFI@work webinars, podcasts, and contributing to position papers and EU projects. On Monday, 15 September, you will have the chance to discover the SEFI SIGs and participate in their workshops and meetings - see their programme here! If you're interested in joining any of the SIGs, you can express your interest by completing the survey, which is open until 9 September.

      SEFI JOURNAL OF ENGINEERING EDUCATION ADVANCEMENT

      A new SEFI JEEA paper by Olya Kudina, Joost Mollen, Jordi Viader Guerrero, Dmitry Muravyov from TU Delft, and Juan Pablo Bermudez from University of Southampton, explores how relational ethics can be taught in engineering by having robotics students craft companion robots and reflect on human-robot relations. It offers fresh insights for integrating ethics into technical education.

      Attracting students to study engineering, and helping society understand what engineers do, are ongoing challenges within engineering education. In this episode we heard from Mariana Velho, Communication, Education and Outreach Manager for CERN openlab. Mariana draws upon her background in psychology, education and outreach, to manage various communication projects and campaigns, and manage stakeholder relationships.

                The priwe awarded by the International Network for Engineering Studies (INES), recognises outstanding scholarship exploring the technical, social, and philosophical dimensions of engineering. This year, the committee invites nominations of peer-reviewed journal articles or book chapters published in 2024 or 2025, excluding those in the Engineering Studies journal. INES members may submit nominations via this form by 15 September 2025.

                Studies in Engineering Education is seeking new Associate Editors (AEs) to support its growing editorial team. AEs manage the peer review process, synthesise reviewer feedback, and make recommendations to the editors. Ideal candidates are familiar with qualitative and interpretive research.                 Commission proposes new Erasmus+ beyond 2027

                

                The Commission proposes a budget of €40.8 billion for the period 2028-2034, compared to €26.2 billion for 2021-2027. A reinforced Erasmus+ programme will be the backbone of the Union of Skills. Education mobility, solidarity and inclusiveness will remain the core of the programme.

                Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships call until 10 Sept

                

                Their objective is to support researchers’ careers and foster excellence in research. The Postdoctoral Fellowships action targets researchers holding a PhD who wish to carry out their research activities abroad, acquire new skills and develop their careers. The call is open until 10 September.
