Welcome to the latest Youth & Children Update!

Events for Young People

Our PizzaBowl event is officially an annual tradition! All young people aged 12–18 are invited to join us 4–8pm on Saturday 30 August 2025, at Fountain Park for bowling and pizza. Yeek25 Graduates are also very welcome.

The obligatory registration and consent form is at tinyurl.com/PizzaBowl2025.

Cost: £10 per person (up to a max of £20 per family) payable by BACS in advance or cash/card on the day.

Harvest Sleepover

The next Provincial Sleepover event will take place at St James Church in Aberdeen. It will run from 4pm on Saturday 4 October and finish at noon on Sunday 5 October. There will be fun, food and a sleepover in the church!

Anyone of High School age is welcome to attend, plus Yeek25 graduates.

Cost = £10 per person.

Ring Out is a youth-initiated event for all aged 11–16 concerned about the impact of the climate crisis. On the 4th Saturday of each month, 11:30am–2pm, there is the chance to come together for discussion and creative action, with the bells being rung between 12 noon and 12:20pm.

Young Adults 18+

Rooted and Roaming is a community for young Christians (18+) who are exploring their faith and visiting various churches across the 7 dioceses of the Scottish Episcopal Church. All are welcome. Their first event is in Edinburgh, on Sunday 24 August at St Michael and All Saints. Meet at 10:15am for a 10:30am service.

New WhatsApp group for young adults

The Pisky 18+ WhatsApp Community is a new PYC initiative to help Yeek graduates and other 18–25s keep in touch with each other and with key Youth leaders. There will be announcements of opportunities such as pilgrimages, and the chance to join different groups in the Community (e.g. your Diocese, Yeek 24 leavers). To join, fill in this short form.

For Leaders

The Diocese is a subscription ‘hub’ for ROOTS on the Web, enabling congregations to sign-up for access to Lectionary-based digital resources (including the 20year back catalogue) for the subsidised cost of £20 for the year. Interested congregations should register via this form. One-month free trial here.

Youth & Children’s Ministry Training Day. Rachel Cooney, Children's Director at Ps&Gs, warmly invites YOU to this event at Ps & Gs Church on Saturday 27 September from 9.00am to 1.00pm. There will be tea/coffee and pastries to start, followed by training on topics such as Play, Mossy Church, Neurodiversity, and worship with Beth Croft.

Safeguarding Training for those working with children and protected adults is available at Ps & Gs Church, from 7:30-9pm, on the following dates:

Upcoming Events with Godly Play Scotland

The following events will take place in the Godly Play Room at Duddingston Kirk, Edinburgh.

▶ Making Materials: Sat 23 Aug, 10am-3pm, £15.

▶ Discovery Day: Sat 20 Sep, 10am-4pm, £15.

▶ Accredited Training: 22-24 Oct, £315 (early booking discounts may be available).

Youth and Children's Grant. The next deadline for the Diocesan Grants Committee is 30 August. If you wish to make an application for the Youth & Children's Grant, please send your completed application form to the DMMC Team by that date. The last meeting of 2025 will be at the start of December.

The Provincial Enable Grant can be used to access up to £5000 in any one year. It aims to enable SEC congregations to develop new projects, or to support existing projects with an SEC connection, address increasing poverty amongst families in their community. More details are on the SEC website.

Play Church. You may have seen the reel about Play Church on our social media feeds. Did you know that it is hosted by congregations throughout the year? We have hosts booked up until autumn 2026, but if you want to host the Play Church at some point in the future, get in touch with Fee and she can talk you through what is involved and/or slot you in as a future host!
