| Open Letter to Councillors |
Following concerns raised by members, the Executive Committee and the Citizen's Assembly, our Acting Chair, Bob Jones, has sent an open letter to all Test Valley Borough Councillors and Romsey Town Councillors stating that: "We in the Romsey and District Society feel strongly that any decision by the local or Test Valley Borough Council on the development of the area to the South of Romsey town centre should be deferred." |

| August Magazine Correction |
In the August edition of the Romsey and District Society’s magazine we wrote a short article (page 10) entitled ‘Romsey Future, the South of Town Development and the Crosfield Hall’. In it we asserte4d that the members of the 2024 ‘Citizens Assembly’ were led to conclude that they wanted the Hall to be demolished and a new one built. This was incorrect. We are given to understand, from a member of the Assembly, that they were told that the demolition of the Hall had been agreed earlier, and this was reiterated in the report of the Assembly. When members challenged this they were informed that the demolition of the Hall was necessary in order to provide sufficient parking to compensate for the loss of spaces caused by the changed bus station layout. As a result their choices regarding the different option were limited to those offered. David Robinson, Editor. |

| TALK: The Otter's Tale Thursday 25th September, 19:45 |
We have been lucky to secure Simon Cooper to talk to us about ‘The Otters’ Tale - Otters in Hampshire’ on Thursday 25th September at 7.45pm in the Abbey Church Rooms. Simon has written The Otters’ Tale about the family of otters living in the Wallop Brook by his water mill at Nether Wallop as well as Life of a Chalk Stream. As this is likely to be a popular talk and places are limited, please book your seat by contacting Kate Allen at [email protected] with the name(s) of attendees. |

| A small team of volunteers delivers the paper copy of our Magazine to members around the town. Please get in touch if you could deliver some magazines to members in your area. It's not that onerous, only three times a year. A few very long serving people would like to step back. Please contact John Middleton [email protected] or by phone to 01794 501407 if you would be prepared to help. |
