Adelaide - One of the World's  Happiest Cities

Big news! Adelaide has just been named one of the world’s happiest cities by the Institute for Quality of Life, earning a spot on their coveted Gold “Happiest Cities” list! This comes hot on the heels of Architectural Digest naming Adelaide the “Most Beautiful City in the World” last year. We’re thrilled that all three of the Adelaide Education Group's (AEG's) Adelaide Institute of Higher Education (AIHE), Adelaide Institute of Business & Technology (AIBT), Adelaide International School (AIS) - call this incredible city home, where beauty, joy, and opportunity come together!

Taste of Harmony

AEG's AIHE, AIBT, and AIS at both our Adelaide and Melbourne campuses brought the flavour and the fun to Harmony Day! It was incredible to see and taste the amazing array of home-cooked dishes our staff shared, each a delicious window into their unique cultural heritage.

Beyond the incredible food, the conversations and connections made today truly highlighted the strength we find in our diversity. It's moments like these that remind us how much richer and more vibrant our workplace is because of the unique perspectives and backgrounds each team member brings.

Huge shoutout to everyone who participated and made Harmony Day such a resounding success across both campuses! Let's keep this spirit of inclusion and celebration going strong every day. Thank you again, A Taste of Harmony for this initiative.

National Reconciliation Week

This week marks National Reconciliation Week (NRW), a time to reflect on shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to consider how each of us can contribute to reconciliation in Australia. The theme for #NRW2025 “Bridging Now to Next,” reflects the ongoing connection between past, present, and future. It invites all Australians to move forward together, looking ahead while guided by the lessons of the past.

The AEG - AIHE, AIBT, AIS, and AEG-Corporate Services - includes members from a variety of cultural backgrounds, with many staff and students from overseas.

We recognise that reconciliation is a shared learning journey, inviting everyone, whether Australian-born or from abroad, to engage thoughtfully with the stories, cultures, and aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

As an educational ecosystem with a diverse international community, we are committed to fostering understanding and respect for the rich and enduring cultures of Australia’s First Nations peoples.

Together, through learning and action, we can help build a more united and respectful nation.

Chinese Educational Institutions Partnership

The directors and investors from Yanling Road Primary School, Yanling Road Middle School, and Zhangbei Dezhi Middle School, part of the Beijing Liangzhi Education Group, recently visited the AEG's AIHE, AIBT, and AIS.

The visit served as a meaningful platform for cross-cultural exchange, collaborative dialogue, and the exploration of future partnerships in international education. Key discussions focused on innovative teaching practices, student exchange programs, and curriculum development to enhance learning experiences across both China and Australia.

We are excited about the strengthening ties between Chinese and Australian educational institutions and look forward to continued collaboration and shared growth.

AIHE Book Club Reads Anna Karenina

This study period, the AIHE Book Club turned its attention to one of literature’s great masterpieces—Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. Although the group was small, the discussions were rich, reflective, and deeply engaging. Members explored the novel’s central themes of love, family, duty, and the search for meaning, drawing connections between the characters’ struggles and broader questions about life and identity.

To conclude the term, the club held a screening of the film adaptation, providing an opportunity to compare and contrast the storytelling across formats. One quote from the character Levin stood out as a key takeaway from the experience:
“Now I know that the real meaning of life is not in self-fulfillment, but in giving—giving love, and receiving it.”

The Book Club continues to be a space for thoughtful conversation, connection, and shared appreciation of literature.

VET For Schools Student Testimonial

"Completing the Certificate III in Business was one of the best decisions I made during school. The course provided me with a strong foundation in essential business skills, from customer service and teamwork to using Microsoft Office and understanding workplace dynamics. What I appreciated most was how hands-on the learning was. We didn’t just study theory—we were given real-world scenarios and group projects that helped me apply what I was learning immediately. The trainers made everything accessible and ensured that I understood how to approach different business tasks. By the end of the course, I felt more prepared for any job, with a solid understanding of how businesses operate and how to communicate professionally. This course helped me feel confident in my skills and gave me a head start in the workforce."

— Arinjay Kakria (Certificate III in Business, 2025)

New Zealand Principals Visit AIS

AIS proudly hosted seven Principals from New Zealand’s North Island, visiting Adelaide to explore educational practices in South Australian schools.

As part of their visit, Dr Armen Vartanov, AIS EAP teacher, delivered a short lesson entirely in Russian. This immersive session helped the visiting Principals experience what it's like for students learning in a new language—an impactful way to showcase the challenges international students face.

Following the lesson, Mrs Phillips led a professional discussion on best practices in language development and the inclusive approaches used at AIS. The visit sparked valuable conversations and strengthened the educational bond between Australian and New Zealand educators.

It was a meaningful and inspiring afternoon that highlighted the importance of empathy, engagement, and collaboration in education.

Student Testimonials

Image description

"Studying at AIS during Year 11 and Year 12 has been a memorable and life-changing experience for me. The teachers are very supportive and always encouraging us to work even harder. The other students are also very friendly and inclusive, which made it much easier to blend in and make new friends when we first arrived to Adelaide. Switching from Indonesia curriculum to the Australian curriculum was challenging but our teachers ensured that we had a smooth transition between them. I learned a lot the past year and a half, not just academically but personally as well. I hope that I continue to grow as a student and as a person throughout the rest of my journey in Year 12 until I graduate."

— Bianca Augustine Setyawan

"Studying at AIS in Years 11 and 12 has been a valuable experience for me. The teachers are very supportive and always ready to help, whether in online or offline learning. The students at AIS are also very friendly. Through them, I’ve learned to socialize and understand people from different backgrounds, which has helped me grow both academically and personally."

— Marchello Brahmanditha Yoga

"My experience studying at AIS was amazing because it was the first time in my life that I had participated in a program like this. In Year 11, I attended classes online from Indonesia, and although it was challenging at first, the teachers at AIS were very supportive and ready to help me adapt and understand the subject matter. When I entered Year 12 and studied directly in Australia, I was nervous and a little scared at first. But now I feel more connected to the school environment and my friends. AIS has given me a strong foundation, not only to continue my studies at university in Australia but also to face the challenges of life in the future. I am very happy to be a part of AIS."
