The design process for printed circuit boards (“PCB”s) can often present various challenges, such as controlling costs and managing design complexity. Our latest blog explores how TTM Technologies (“TTM”) partnered with a customer manufacturing PCB Stators for cooling systems encountered substantial difficulties in their PCB design journey. By leveraging our engineering expertise and promoting collaborative strategies, we navigated and overcame production challenges, ultimately delivering cost-effective solutions tailored to the customer’s requirements.
TTM's dedication to quality and innovation is crucial in tackling these complex manufacturing challenges. Our field application engineers implemented targeted strategies, shifting from a complex multiple lamination process to a more efficient single lamination approach, significantly reducing production time and costs.

The sudden imposition of hefty tariffs by the US has caught Taiwanese manufacturers off guard, particularly those who have recently shifted production capacity to Southeast Asia. Thailand and Vietnam have been hit with tariffs as high as 37% and 46%. With 2025 marking the peak of new PCB production capacity expansion in Thailand, this tariff news has shaken the industry.
Taiwan's PCB suppliers report that the ongoing US-China tariff tensions prompted early order pull-ins from networking and consumer electronics customers, allowing the first quarter of 2025 to outperform typical seasonal expectations.
Total North American PCB shipments in March 2025 were down 3.1 percent compared to the same month last year. Compared to the preceding month, March shipments were down 2.3 percent.
The overall impact is concentrated in North America, with significant repercussions for Japan, Korea, and Europe due to the interplay of tariffs and macroeconomic factors.
US President Donald Trump, after several rounds of tariff impositions targeting China and provoking strong retaliations, has recently indicated a willingness to reduce tariffs on Chinese goods. With the 25% tariff on auto parts set to take effect on May 3, Trump stated that some Chinese auto parts would be exempted from these duties.
Trump administration policies have raised questions about how the FDA will regulate AI in medical devices. AdvaMed board members think the agency should keep its leading role.
When medtech earnings calls kicked off two weeks ago, a large question loomed over the industry: How badly will the White House’s new tariff policies affect businesses? The answer from multiple companies has been that it would cost them hundreds of millions of dollars.
In 2024, the global front-end semiconductor equipment market experienced notable growth, with sales of wafer processing equipment increasing by 9% and other front-end segments rising by 5%. This growth was largely fueled by heightened investments in expanding capacity for both leading-edge and mature logic, advanced packaging, and HBM, alongside a significant rise in investments from China.
Global server shipments declined by 3.2% quarter-on-quarter in 1Q25. Anticipation of tariff increases has prompted server players to actively build inventories, with global server shipments projected to grow by 1.8% quarter-over-quarter in 2Q25.
Q1 enterprise spending on cloud infrastructure services increased to $94 billion worldwide. This was up $17.5 billion or 23% from the first quarter of 2024, but were it not for fluctuations in currency exchange rates over the past year, the growth rate would have been closer to 25%.
