Transmitter Update

Last month, the Transmitter took a tactical pause to reimagine itself. Our new format is designed to inform, inspire, and serve you. Our goal is to make The Transmitter easy to navigate and to read while allowing you the opportunity to explore a theme in greater detail. The Transmitter depends upon your support and participation to fruitfully serve the Chaplain Corps.

Inspiration to Ponder

What does servant leadership and engagement do for others? "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." -- John Quincy Adams

Chaplain William Adam’s service to the McChord Field chapel is a glowing testimony of the value of having a fully vested auxiliary partnership with Civil Air patrol. Chaplain (Lt Col.) Kip Everett, Wing Chaplain said, “I have used Chaplain Adam during periods of critical manning and deliberate HC surge opportunities. Anticipating a 30-day gap in Wing Chaplain support, Chaplain Adam will be an immense help covering a 30-day gap between Wing Chaps. Chaplain Averett noted that “You have inspired our SFS team to the point that they call asking for “their” chaplain which is code for Chaplain Adam.”

This is a Tier Two training for Air Force (AF) Chaplain Corps Readiness, Plans & Skillsets for Full-Spectrum Conditions. The course trains a Readiness Religious Support Team (RST) to identify, plan (Ops Plan), and train RST for mass casualty, and contingency operations for domestic and overseas air bases. Chaplain Morison will work with Readiness HCR-TTT on CAP capabilities and involvement as well as bringing applicable learning from the course to CAP.

Need To Know

Virtual Incident Command Center (vICP

Web Application

The vICP began during Covid and continues seven days a week. At the end of day they consolidate a national report of all CAP missions and necessary information for CAP National Command and the First Air Force Commander. At their request the Chaplain Corps has provided an invocation for the beginning of each meeting. HCX and HCE have reimagined and expanded this ministry to all of CAP. Anyone can link to the site, select a date (either a three- or four-day commitment), and support this long-term mission. You will receive a confirmation email, a three-day reminder (text optional), a reminder the day of responsibility (text optional), a thank you (text optional), and an invitation to participate again a few months later. We are finalizing a plan to recognize ongoing participation in this mission over a period of a year. This easy-to-use Web-App and will come online in June. A link and further information will be sent by email to everyone in the corps.

Special Announcement:

Planning for Encampment Meeting

Cadet Programs has held a series of nationwide meetings for the encampment command staff in preparation for this year’s encampments. Planning for Encampment Success Part Three: Chaplains/CDIs is part of an online series for Encampment Commanders and DCPs. This session will advise encampment commanders and DCP’s about the Chaplain Support Team's capabilities, responsibilities, and highlight a few best practices. All members of the Chaplain Corps are invited though Chaplain Support Team members for this year’s encampments are highly encouraged to attend. Mark your calendars for 12 June at 2030 hours Eastern. An email with a link for the virtual meeting will be sent to all members of the Chaplain Corps. For more information contact [email protected].

Encampment Reporting Web based Application

HCX (Plans & Programs) and HCT (Information Technology) have produced, and beta tested, a new reporting Web-Application for Chaplain Support Team (CST) Encampment reporting. This is an easy-to-use app that can be used on your phone, pad, or computer. This app is designed to collect information that allows us to tell a detailed story of our ministry of presence activities at encampment. There is a daily (real time or end of day entry capability) section and an After-Action Report (ARR) section.Daily entries take about a minute. In addition, it allows us to generate a compelling standardized report of our encampment ministry at the individual, wing, region, and national level. This has never been done before. All encampment CST teams are requested to use this software. Zoom orientation announcement will be sent out by email shortly.

Back to Basics

Public Prayer

As we launch this new and improved version of “The Transmitter” this month, we are starting a new series entitled “Back to Basics” in which we will review some often forgotten – but nevertheless important – regulations, procedures, and concepts. In light of a few recent questions and complaints I’ve received, I thought that our first “Back to Basics” article should be about truth in advertising and offering prayers at official CAP events. Chaplain Corps Education and Training Opportunities

Best Practices

Pacific Region Chaplain Chapel Field Kit

The military has field chapel kits for downrange use. Aware of this history, Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Alan Zaugg developed a field chapel kit for his Level V project. The project came to life as he assembled a field chapel kit for the Pacific Region. The kit provides almost everything that a Chaplain Support Team needs for SAREX, mission, encampments and for other activities. Click the link below to read more. Complete Information here.
