| Joint action with international agencies |
On 27 March 2025, Femili PNG coordinated a successful and impactful meeting at Kundiawa, bringing together the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and local service providers. The meeting allowed donors to hear directly from frontline providers about their experiences and challenges, including the urgent need for safe accommodation. The UNFPA Representative for Papua New Guinea, Ms. Saira Shameem, highlighted the impact of ongoing global funding cuts and urged service providers to begin preparing for fundraising efforts to help sustain their existing services. She proposed a strategy session on resource mobilisation to ensure service sustainability and ongoing dialogue. |

| Training and capacity building for service providers |
To strengthen the capacity of service providers in delivering quality case management for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), Femili PNG conducted a week-long training session in Goroka this February. Supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the training brought together 19 participants from various organisations. The training session covered the six key stages of case management and included role-plays, discussions, and skill-building activities. Participants said they appreciated the training and now feel more confident in their work helping survivors. |

| Community awareness and education |
More than 40 staff members, volunteers, and caregivers from the Morobe Adventist Care Centre (MACC) in Lae participated in a two-day intensive information session held from 21–22 January 2025. The main objective of the information session was to educate the participants, inspire them to advocate for survivors’ justice, and empower them to raise awareness and help break the cycle of violence in their communities. Participants took part in group discussions and presentations, asked questions, shared personal experiences, and reflected on the knowledge gained. |
Femili PNG’s Outreach Officers delivered an informative session to employees of JV Hire Company Ltd at the company’s conference room in Lae on 14 March 2025. As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to a safe and healthy workplace, Femili PNG were invited to educate staff on gender-based violence (GBV) and the proactive measures that can be taken to prevent violence from happening at work and at home. The Femili PNG team also discussed the impacts of GBV on individuals, and how it can affect employee wellbeing, performance, and overall productivity. The session helped staff understand GBV and gave them practical ways to make their workplace safer for everyone. |

Office space for survivors living with disabilities |
A heartfelt thank you to the Australian Government, through the PNGAus Partnership, for recognising Femili PNG’s need to have an office space that is accessible to survivors living with a disability. This important project began earlier this year and is now 90% complete, with only fencing remaining. It marks a significant milestone as the first dedicated office space designed specifically for persons living with disabilities. We also extend our sincere gratitude to the Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea for generously allowing this project to take place within their community. More updates to follow in the coming months.
