The Spartan Housing Cooperative is a proud cohost of East Lansing Pride again this year and I am excited to share with you the Queer Reality Project!
We, as Queer people and allies, know that much of our lives, and the lives of those before us, have been spent advocating for the ability to live out loud. With the current political climate, we want to uplift the stories and voices of the LGBTQIA+ community in the Greater Lansing Area. Here’s where you come in!! We are looking for Queer Reality statements from LGBTQIA+ folks and allies! These statements will be included anonymously in Calls to Action leading up to PRIDE as well as a large-scale interactive Art Installation that will be showcased at East Lansing PRIDE on Saturday June 14th from 4-9 p.m. We aim to not only highlight our existence as Queer people but give our neighbors of all ages a place to share their joy, their fears, stories about their first love, coming out (the good, bad, the funny), harsh truths of the Queer experience, realizing their identity, and whatever other parts of their Reality they want to share. While we have shared this project with our Coop members, we are hoping to expand our reach to further represent the community in Lansing! The survey can be found here: https://forms.gle/kfeBk95quyMEvXHv8 Information regarding Pride: https://www.cityofeastlansing.com/2548/East-Lansing-Pride |

Funded through the NYU MLK Scholars Program, a social justice leadership initiative, we will be creating a documentary film project that captures the lives of transgender and non-binary individuals across the Midwestern United States. As non-binary filmmakers, we recognize the urgency of this work: as the Trump administration attempts to legislate us out of existence, documentation of our oral histories becomes increasingly vital. Our project, We Are Here: Trans Lives Across the Midwest is an exercise in portraiture and preservation. We aim to interview trans and non-binary people in the communities they call home—to demystify the propagandized narrative of transness, emphasizing the humanity, honesty, and sheer existence of trans Americans. This is where you come in: we need interviewees! We are seeking 18+, transgender/non-binary individuals based in your city who are willing to participate in a filmed interview for our documentary. Additionally, we would like to take portrait photography of each individual, transcribe their interview, and ultimately create a printed book. |

Our research team at the University of Maryland, led by Prof. Hal Daumé III, is recruiting paid participants for a research study exploring how people ask questions about trans topics. We are also examining how experts respond to these questions and how AI systems succeed—or fall short—in addressing these information needs. In particular, we hope to understand whether and how experts (and AI systems) tailor responses based on the asker’s background knowledge. We are seeking participants who: Are at least 18 years old Have experience observing or answering questions about transness or trans issues in a formal capacity (e.g., support group facilitators, LGBT center staff, community advocates, etc.)
What participation involves: A video interview (1 hour, audio and video recorded) A self-paced data collection exercise (~1 hour) Compensation: $60 total or $30/hr, whichever is higher (i.e., if you spend longer than an hour on the self-paced exercise, you will be compensated accordingly)
If you or someone in your network may be interested, we invite you to share the following screener link: https://go.umd.edu/1xe0. For any questions, feel free to contact Connor Baumler at [email protected]. |

If you are a trans or nonbinary adult currently living in the United States, you may be eligible for a paid research study being conducted by transmasculine nonbinary doctoral student Jamie Taber and the Baruch College Sexual and Gender Minority Health (SGMH) lab! Participation will involve completing a 30-minute online survey to test and provide feedback on a new measure of trans-specific experiences with dissociation, which we recently created in collaboration with trans focus group members. We are especially interested in the perspectives of Black, Indigenous, and other trans people of color. If you are eligible, complete a brief Zoom verification call, and complete the full survey, you will receive a $10 electronic gift card. The Transgender Research Informed Consent (TRICON) disclosure statement, which includes detailed information about ethical concerns specific to trans communities, can be found at https://linktr.ee/TransDissociate. You can also find more information and complete the screening survey at https://baruch.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1OnJ0hpxbbcA0Zw. |

The REACH Lab at Virginia Tech is currently recruiting participants nationwide for a paid, fully virtual research study to better understand the unique daily experiences of multigender-attracted (e.g., bisexual, pansexual, omnisexual, polysexual, demisexual, etc.) adults and their romantic partners. Specifically, we are examining how stress linked to individuals' intersecting identities (e.g., discrimination, harassment, biphobia, stereotypes about multigender-attracted individuals) impact adults' relationships, how partners support each other during these moments of stress, and other health outcomes. We hope that this study will enhance the inclusivity of couple therapy and will inform the public of the harms caused by harmful rhetoric and policies.
Each participant can earn up to $120 for completing the study. Participants must participate in the study with their partner.
Our study is approved by the Institutional Review Board at Virginia Tech (IRB # 23-399), our research team includes LGBTQ+-identifying members, and all members of our research team are SafeZone trained. The Principal Investigator is Dr. Meagan Brem, and co-Investigators include Dr. Brian Feinstein, and Dr. Ryan Shorey.

Our study is titled “Constructing a Developmentally and Socially Contextualized Model of Minority Stress for Gender Minority Youth.” Youth would be eligible to participate if they are between the ages of 13-19, identify as a gender minority individual (e.g., transgender, non-binary, or other non-cis identities) and speak English. The purpose of this study is to produce a theoretical framework that works to illustrate how gender minority youth experience, manage and are affected by identity-specific or minority stressors. This study will also examine how developmental, social and other factors could influence the processes involved in this framework. The hope is that this work assists in developing and refining affirmative mental health interventions and supports for gender minority youth and their caregivers. This study is approved by the Indiana University IRB (#24438) and has a waiver of parental consent to protect youth who are not out to parents/guardians. Additionally, we will be taking additional measures to protect potentially identifiable information from participants and ensure that such information is only reported in aggregate and scrubbed from any publications or analysis. Youth that participate in an interview as part of the study will be compensated $25 in the form of an Amazon gift card for their time.
