FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 20, 2025

Lone Kodiak returns with their much-anticipated 3-song EP, No Receiver. This release builds on the emotional resonance of their debut album If We Have a Future, which struck a chord with listeners and critics alike which struck a chord with listeners and critics alike, thanks in part to the success of the single “Inner Monologue,” which has surpassed half a million streams on SoundCloud. The EP carries the same raw intensity that captured their audience before, yet ventures into bolder, more experimental sonic territory. No Receiver will be pressed in a limited edition of just 200 7” vinyl copies, offering a rare, tangible piece for those seeking a more intimate connection with the music. The EP will also be available for digital purchase exclusively on Bandcamp.

Opening the EP is “Reptilian,” a track that surges forward, unleashed in a wave of untamed, punk-fueled chaos. From its beguiling synth introduction to the feverish rhythm that follows, it sets the stage for a thrilling ride. Vocalist/guitarist Dainéal Parker shares “I think [our drummer] Josh's intro here is one of the coolest things he's done, and therefore we've done, and is on par with the great grunge kick-ins like Smells Like Teen Spirit.

“Reptilian” is accompanied by an ASL lyric video featuring Los Angeles-based Deaf actress Lizbeth Bravo, directed and edited by Dainéal Parker. “Reptilian” delves into themes of paranoia and miscommunication, building tension that is as captivating as it is disorienting.

Paralytic,” the second track brings listeners back down to earth with its steady, driving rhythm. It’s a song that feels like a moment of stark self-awareness amidst dissociation, a raw exploration of the emotional numbness that can come from compassion overload and the guilt thereof.

The EP culminates with “Lucky Charm,” the emotional climax of No Receiver, and the inspiration behind its name. Tender yet potent, the song feels like standing on the edge of the shore, letting a tidal wave of feelings crash over you. It’s a poignant reflection on love that’s either lost or forever out of reach, captured in the haunting refrain, “All this love and no receiver.” This powerful outro delivers a cathartic end to the EP’s exploration of raw feeling.

Lone Kodiak has always carved their own path, and No Receiver is no exception. The EP stands as a natural progression of the band’s sound, a fearless dive into their creative evolution. Since the release of If We Have a Future, the band’s reach has only expanded, a testament to the growing connection they share with their audience.

To celebrate the release, Lone Kodiak will perform a special EP release show at The Echo in Los Angeles on June 20th. They’ll follow up the LA release show with a performance at Kelly’s Olympian in Portland, Oregon on June 28th

About Lone Kodiak

There’s something singular about Lone Kodiak.

Founded by Portland natives Dainéal Parker (vocals, guitars) and Daniel Alden (bass), the group found revelation with the inclusion of their drummer, Josh Harris. Drawing inspiration from iconic bands like The Cure, Hum, The Smashing Pumpkins, Explosions In The Sky, and Deftones, the group embarked on a creative journey during the pandemic, molding a distinct sonic identity that has marked them out as the next new act to watch.

Whether trying to nail down their sound or find another group as hardworking as them, the band stands alone as their namesake would against a barren backdrop. And, of course, the East LA outfit doesn’t fit in with the pomp and bluster of the Hollywood rock scene, unconcerned as they are with clout, glory, or grandeur.

The quartet (with guitarist Ben Palmer squaring the circle) combines the grit of East LA with the sublime wildness of the Pacific Northwest – a group that is at once solitary, capable, dangerous, and self-assured
