Fun League Jun 10th Info

This past Tues was a frustrating day with the weather. It waited until close to tee time to rain/storm everywhere except at the course. That is why the week wasn't canceled prior to play. Then as some groups went out, not all who did go out were able to finish. With less than half of the groups finishing the week is postponed and moved to the week of Aug 19th.

Handicaps

As mentioned last week, with us having made it through three weeks of on-course action, handicaps will now be based on actual play this season.

Weather Issues

With the way that weather can happen, especially if it may arrive at tee-time or during play, it becomes frustrating as to what to do proactively from a go/no-go perspective. In general, I want to make a determination around 1 pm for general course conditions. After that, it may be more of a "game-time" decision by each group for I want to give the benefit of the doubt to the course that play may happen.

I have no issue if a group or matchup looks at the radar and makes a determination they will not go out. It's also ok to decide to play another night if the week will count. The main thing I ask is to let your opponents and myself know. That way I will know if we have enough groups planning to play and I can communicate effectively with others. If we don't have half the groups planning to complete play for the week, I can send out a notification telling all that the week will be postponed. Groups can still play a practice round if conditions allow.

Extra Team

  • Keeping this info here since it is in play for the 1st Half.
  • With us currently having 13 teams, that means the Extra Team is in play. The Extra Team is #14 on the schedule. If you are scheduled to play that team, you will go play your round (you won't have a physical opponent to play with) and turn in your scores. We will randomly pick another team who played that week to match up against. The score sheets will detail who was selected as the "Extra Team" that week for the matchup.
  • A plug that we do have one person willing to play so if we can find one other person, we can get to a 14th team.
Image description

This week I was volunteering at the American Family Insurance Championship in Madison. Here's a fun fact from that tournament. Last year the event was held at University Ridge Golf Course. How many yards of rope were used to line the spectator areas on each hole? As in all the walking paths, etc.

Answer 11,666 yards - 6.63 miles!

Misc

Good luck to all this week!

Wrap-Up

That's it for now. Please let me know of any questions.
