FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 5, 2025

Kentucky continues to gather momentum toward his upcoming album SECOND CHANCE MUSIC with the release of his latest video for “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life”. Shot in one continuous take at a public park, the video captures a passing moment of jubilance—sun-drenched, real-time, and alive with possibility. A saturated filter bathes everything in light, reinforcing the idea that when you finally find someone who feels like “forever,” the future can almost feel too bright to look at directly.

The single, which was released April 21, showcased a more upbeat, side of Kentucky’s sound. Electric and acoustic guitars share space across an arrangement that’s equal parts rock-forward and emotionally open. There’s a playfulness to it—an energy that reflects not just hope, but a readiness to welcome joy back in, without pretense. The video mirrors that emotional gear shift, capturing love not through grand romantic gestures, but through an unshaken gaze—a simple, confident visual statement about what it feels like to move forward with intention.

Following the release of two emotionally heavy singles—“Same Street (Different Towns)” and “No More Tomorrows”—this new chapter offers something lighter, without losing Kentucky’s signature honesty. “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life” doesn’t rewrite the past—it builds on it, refusing to let cynicism define the future. It’s a pivot toward possibility, fueled by the kind of personal growth that comes from hard-won self-awareness and unexpected connection.

The video arrives mid-way through Kentucky’s 13-date spring tour, which kicked off in April and wraps up with a hometown album release show in Almonte, ON on May 24—just one day before SECOND CHANCE MUSIC officially drops. TICKETS HERE

About Kentucky

Kentucky, the musical project of Canadian artist Jordan Holman, is emerging like a quiet signal cutting through late-night static. His songs—a quicksilver blend of acoustic rock, indie folk, and subtle ’90s alternative glow—carry stories shaped by extremes: from near-death hushes to the hard-won hope of second chances. Influences like The Tragically Hip, Bryan Adams, Neil Young, and R.E.M. whisper in his ear, but it’s Holman’s own voice—an unwavering tenor wrapped around each thoughtful chord—that draws listeners closer. Having performed over 100 times across Ontario, Quebec, and his birthplace of Edmonton, Alberta, Kentucky’s music takes on a living presence in these spaces, forging connections at once both intimate and universal. His forthcoming debut album, Second Chance Music, distills this experience into a testament of resilience and renewal, and reminds us that sometimes a song is all it takes to guide us back to the light.
