Opening for Rocky Seahorse

dear friend,

Valdoria here. 👋

Toward the end of last month, I had the satisfaction of releasing a video of my song, The Beast. It's a cumulation of firsts: the first song I wrote on the bass to utilize harmonics, my first live music video filmed and published by Easyfolk Media, and my first collaboration with Rocky Seahorse.

I'm pleased with how it turned out, considering all of the pivoting that happened on the way to shoot day. When Joe and I first met to discuss ideas, I'd planned to do an entirely different song in an entirely different setting. As the date approached, the location changed three times before we wound up in my emptied out dining room.

The only thing I'm kind of sad about is how the mood lighting that was brought in to enhance the sense of liminal space obscures the orchid purple glory of my electric bass. Officially, it's "rose gold chameleon," but it looks orchid purple to me.

My dog, Art, watches as I take a mirror selfie with Camille, my bass. Yes, I name my instruments.

We were color-coordinated, all the way around.

Rocky Seahorse had a fun but thoughtful approach to adding guitar textures that made him a joy to work with, and I hope that bodes well for future collaborations. You can catch me open for him at 7pm on Thursday, May 22nd at The Riff at B-Side Records & Vintage, later this month.

Thank you for reading!

Be well & hope to see you, soon!
