Happy Equinox!!  March 20, 2025

Greetings

In a week where Swedish scientists announced the discovery of a way to recycle all the parts of a solar cell using just water, where a nine-year-old heart transplant patient was contacted by Make A Wish to assist a Pittsburgh restaurant create a new sandwich, and where two astronauts who were stranded in space returned to earth—and their splash down off the coast of Florida was accompanied by a pod of dolphins swimming nearby, we're still talking games here at Meeple Mountain.

Meet the Writers

We have welcomed several new writers to Meeple Mountain since the start of the year, and I'd like to have them introduce themselves to you with a short bio and a list of their three favorite games--and why. This week I'm happy to have you meet Kevin Brantley,

Living in the heart of Chicago, I’m a proud dog dad to a Shiba Inu and a Corgi, with a passion for board games, rugby, travel, and great food. My love for heavy board games began during the pandemic through Tabletop Simulator, and now they’re a daily obsession—especially those with rondel mechanics or tableau building. I work in sales for a global travel company, fueling my wanderlust, which began when I immigrated from Singapore as a child. When I’m not gaming, you’ll find me on the rugby pitch, gaming on my PC, reading Brandon Sanderson, or hunting down Chicago’s best eats—all while enjoying life with my wife and two pups.

My Top 3 Games:
* Grand Austria Hotel hooks me every time with its brilliant dice-drafting and engine-building—there’s nothing more satisfying than perfectly timing a guest’s order and expanding my hotel at just the right moment.
* Kanban EV is one of the most tense and rewarding games I’ve played; the worker-placement feels like a high-stakes puzzle, and the pressure of Sandra, the factory manager, keeps me on my toes.
* Eldritch Horror never fails to create an unforgettable adventure—whether I’m barely surviving a showdown with Cthulhu or racing against time to seal a final gate, the tension and storytelling make every game feel like an epic journey.
