Bishop's Lent Appeal

Image description

The Bishop's Lent Appeal for 2025 is in support of Abraham's Children in Crisis. This small charity works with children and young people under 21 who face particular hardship and are in critical need. Their focus is on health, education, and welfare, with the determining factor being need rather than background or faith of the child.

The BIG Day: Blessings on The Way!

Our 2025 Diocesan BIG Day is less than 2 months away! We are so looking forward to welcoming you to the Cathedral on Saturday 10 May, where we will be sharing together on the theme of "Blessings". We hope you will engage with your congregational input ahead of time, capturing blessings received and blessings offered. Moreover, please do make sure you sign up to join us, either via your congregation or using the link here, just to make sure we have enough lunch for everyone!

On 26-28 May 2025, Claire Benton-Evans and Rev Dr Richard Tiplady will be leading this exciting retreat for young adults, to include a short night hike experience, an ascent of Mount Keen, and plentiful opportunities to explore faith through facilitated discussions in the peace of the Angus glens.

This is an outreach activity which is offered by the Diocese of Brechin to any young adults in the Scottish Episcopal Church and beyond. It is especially recommended for university students - subsidised places are available. Please share! Full information and booking here: https://tinyurl.com/KEENINFO Booking deadline 27 April.

Have You Tried?

In this section, we share a resource that might help you explore, learn, or grow in your faith: it could be a book, a podcast, an email subscription, or something else!

Image description

Biblical Time Machine is a podcast which, metaphorically, takes listeners back in time to explore the history of the people, places, and events of the Hebrew Bible/ Old Testament, the New Testament, and everything in between. Hosted by Edinburgh University's Prof Helen Bond and American writer Dave Roos, each week features a guest chatting about their work. Topics thus far have been wide-ranging: from the origins of sabbath to the madness of King Nebuchadnezzar, from wine and beer in Ancient Israel to the Roman punishment of crucifixion. You do not need to be a biblical scholar or historian to enjoy the discussions but they will help you see and appreciate the Bible and Christianity in a new way. Click here or on the image to find out more, or listen wherever you get your podcasts!
