Principal's Coffee & Common Sense Media

8:45 pm

Taylor Auditorium

Please join the principals in the Taylor Auditorium to hear a special presentation from Common Sense Media on the impact of digital drama on learning.

Most technology wasn't built with kids in mind. Common Sense Media is on a mission to change that.

Common Sense Media believes in media that inspires and entertains families of all kinds. In technology that protects privacy and supports communities. Common Sense has partnered with Taylor Middle School and Millbrae Unified to address the impact of digital drama on learning. During our coffee chat, here are the three areas we will be touching on:

  • Understanding trends in digital drama and cyber bullying in 2025. What families need to know
  • Highlighting the work that is happening at Taylor Middle School to teach student about online safety and agency skills
  • Provide families with basic ways to assess students' use of social media

The Screentime Agreements That Stick Workshop

6:30-8:00 pm

Taylor Auditorium

When it comes to screens, many parents are fed up feeling like police officers or pushovers and sometimes both on the same day. In this workshop facilitated by conflict prevention specialist Lisa Rothman, parents learn how to create screen time agreements that actually stick, by engaging their kids in the process and addressing their own fears in a way that creates collaboration, not conflict.

Music Needs Your Help!

Dear music parents,

As you know, there is a lot to building a music program. Amanda Negrete works endless days,  working to coordinate lots of moving parts. In the past we have had a dedicated group of parents step up to volunteer their time to help her. Unfortunately, due to children graduating and moving out of our middle school music program, we are in need of a new group of parents to help. The primary needs are coordinating Disneyland trip, fundraising, & concerts. This year we are asking ALL Taylor music parents to commit to help in some way.  As the saying goes, "many hands make light work."

Please email us using the button below to let us know you are interested in helping. We will send you more information and happily welcome you to our team. We'll explain all the tasks we need to get covered in order to ensure that we can provide a great year to our music students.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Musically,
Taylor Music parents
