For this month’s Board Member Highlight, we are excited to feature Orlando Rivera, SMFPI Board Treasurer

| How do you like to spend your time when you're not working with SMFPI? Where do you work? I like to spend time volunteering and giving back to a community that poured so much into me. I also enjoy supporting my kids on the athletic field. Currently, I work for Empire Realty Group as a Realtor. How long have you been involved with SMFPI? I have been involved with SMFPI for three years. Is there anything else you would like to share? I am a proud graduate of Catholic schools having attended Annunciation, St. Cecilias, Northeastern Catholic, and Bishop Kearney. |
What inspired you to join the board of St. Michael’s Family Protection Institute? SMFPI's mission aligns with my values as a Knight of Columbus and a concerned father in today's society looking to make an impact in promoting family values and protecting our children. What are the biggest challenges facing families in Rochester, and how is SMFPI addressing them? Access to health care, food insecurity, family instability, and mental health challenges are some of the issues facing families locally. SMFPI's Family Life Center will be an amazing resource for families on all levels. As board members, it is our challenge and mission to help guide the organization and help it be impactful for all. |

| It’s so important to rightly form our consciences during these days of insanity. We are up against so much. If we don’t know how to live virtuously and seek out the good, the true, and the beautiful, it's going to be difficult to defend our beliefs when society calls us to the carpet on certain issues. What am I doing to better form my conscience? Do I receive the Sacraments? Read Scripture? Pray daily? Reflect on the saints or spiritual writings? Engage in spiritually uplifting conversations with others? Attend conferences? View faith-filled shows or podcasts? Go to adoration? Seek guidance from others who are trying to grow in virtue? How can I better prepare myself to stand up for faith and justice?

| Grow in Virtue This Lent with Chesterton
| |
| Lent is a time for spiritual renewal, and what better way to embark on this journey than by rediscovering virtue as an adventure? G.K. Chesterton reminds us that true virtue is not merely the avoidance of vice but a life filled with joy and purpose. |
Join the Society of G.K. Chesterton this Lent as we explore a different virtue each week—reflecting on the Cardinal virtues (Temperance, Justice, Fortitude, and Prudence) and the Theological virtues (Faith, Hope, and Love). Through Chesterton’s wisdom, scripture, and traditional symbols, we will deepen our understanding of holiness in everyday life. |
