This morning, while putting together today’s SnydeReport, I’m enjoying some holiday music. It got me thinking—what’s your favorite holiday song and who sings it? Another classic suggested by a reader... I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus by the Jackson 5

New Feature Announcement on The SnydeReport: |
|
We’re launching a powerful new feature dedicated to exposing how the MAGA's within the Republican Party are waging war on working Hoosier families. From unfair policies to corporate favoritism, we'll spotlight the struggles and challenges Hoosiers face every day at the kitchen table under their agenda. Have a story to share? Let your voice be heard. Send us your experiences, and help us shine a light on the real impact of these policies on everyday lives. Together, we can hold them accountable... |

Stephanie chats with Dr. Heidi Beirich, the co-founder and chief strategy officer for Global Project Against Hate and Extremism. The authoritarian movements across the world share underlying discriminatory ideologies, and too often have been exported from the U.S. The consequence of the growth in these movements is violence and the dangerous integration of bigoted and racist ideas into societal discourse, government policies, and political platforms. Increasingly, as far-right extremist movements have gained in strength, established taboos around far-right extremism have collapsed as mainstream political parties cooperate with extremists once considered out of bounds.
|
|
Every week in the Freedom Over Fascism newsletter, Stephanie will point out the stories relevant to the 2024 election in Indiana and nationally, with a focus on the stakes of the election, rather than any discussion of the odds. She'll also provide actionable guidance on tested messaging to use in our campaigns, activism, and daily conversations. |

Morales latest flap is more than just bad optics
If we apply the English proverb “Start as you mean to go” to Diego Morales, Hoosiers shouldn’t be surprised about recent revelations that he awarded millions of taxpayer dollars in no-bid contracts to companies that made substantial campaign contributions. Disgusted but not surprised. |

"Provent Heating/Cooling, and Refrigeration replaced my entire heat pump system, and I couldn't be happier with their service! The team was clean, courteous, and did an outstanding job from start to finish. Highly recommend!" - Gary & Pepper Snyder, The SnydeReport |

School choice in Indiana has not delivered
I have long supported school choice. There are many good reasons to share my position. At the same time, school choice in Indiana has not delivered the broad success its defenders claim. |

D for effort
The rating comes from the latest “Making the Grade” report, an annual evaluation of state school funding by the Education Law Center, a New Jersey-based research organization that advocates for equitable funding. Indiana does slightly better, earning a C, for school funding adequacy and fairness.

Former Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Florida Republican who briefly stood to become President-elect Donald Trump's nominee to be attorney general, was found by congressional ethics investigators to have paid numerous women — including a 17-year-old girl — for sex, and to have purchased and used illegal drugs, including from his Capitol Hill office, according to a final draft of a comprehensive investigative report obtained by CBS News. |

Media's suck-up moment
Fearing political retribution and strained by new business challenges, media companies that once covered President-elect Trump with skepticism — and in many cases, disdain — are reconsidering their approach.
