Happy almost December, friends!

We hope you are all well, and finding some comfort and warmth as winter sets in.

We have entered the dark times here in Berlin, where it feels like the day ends shortly after it has begun. We understand - we have a hard time with it too. But it's a good time of year to gather our friends and community around us, light candles, and enjoy being together.

And so it is time for the 3rd annual Shtetl Berlin Nisht Keyn Festival!!

Join us for four evenings in a row of great events centered around the winter solstice, as we begin the slow journey back towards longer days and the warmth of springtime.

All information is below, along with more events in the coming few weeks where you can join us, or our friends and colleagues.

We wish you all warm drinks, cozy slippers, good friends, and fun times in the long nights ahead!

Mit sholem,

- Patrick and the Shtetl Berlin team

"Lieder, die meine Grossväter schrieben"
Wednesday November 27  19:00

Jüdisches Gemeindehaus Fasanenstrasse

(Fasanenstr. 79)

12 €

Today!

Imagine having two grandfathers who were songwriters and were as successful in their day as Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim are today! Amazingly, Michael Alexander Willens is lucky enough to be the grandson of both Alexander Olshanetsky and Herman Yablokoff, two of the most successful songwriters who wrote the music for many of the Yiddish theater musicals that flourished in New York in the first half of the 20th century.

Along with Roman Grinberg and the Kölner Akademie Bigband, he has crafted a tribute to his grandfathers in the old "Broadway show-band" tradition, featuring our very own Sasha Lurje and Christian Dawid!

Presented as part of the Internationale Tage jüdischer Musik, now in its 7th year!
