Taking Flight with New Digital Tools

Implementing the right technology for your organization can help you reach new heights.  Here's your guide to the right questions to ask.

Setting Rules for Your Data

Your Donor Management System (DMS) is only as effective as the data you put into it. Establishing clear, consistent data entry rules ensures accurate reporting and maximized functionality.

What are the rules?

  • Do you include salutations or stick to first names?

  • How do you standardize locations (Minneapolis vs. MPLS)?

  • Are mailing list opt-ins tracked consistently?

Set guidelines for every data point. Regularly audit your CRM by running reports, like the number of contacts with valid mailing list permissions. Clear rules create reliable data!

Homer and Marge Simpson sit upright in bed. Gif reads: "I got all the rules written down up here." Homer points to his head. Marge looks unconvinced, and blinks.

💡 Tip: Document and share your DMS rules in a reference guide with your team to keep everyone aligned!

Is your org feeling under the weather? Throw an Archive Party! 🎊

  • Digital Hygiene Day: Carve out a full day of digital hygiene! No meetings, no emails, no distractions, just pure decluttering for you and your team. (Great for physical decluttering, too!)
  • Fuel Your Focus: Provide coffee, donuts, and lunch to keep your team energized and conversational throughout the day.
  • Set Achievable Goals: Assign teams, and create an achievable list of archive tasks to tackle in the morning and afternoon.
  • Personal Purge: Ensure there's time for each person to clean up and back up their own computer and digital files.
  • Soundtrack to Success: Crank up the tunes! Each team member gets to choose a favorite album to set the mood!
  • Early Finish: Wrap up by 2:00 PM so your team can enjoy the rest of their day. 😎
