It's that time of year where the snow is just around the corner and so is FallCon's Secret Santa gathering and a few other events as well. This will be a fairly short newsletter mostly highlighting these events We had some great feedback from our last newsletter and saw a few people step forward to help out with some of our volunteer needs. If there is a way you think you can make FallCon better reach out and lend a hand. A special call out to the people who cracked my not so secret message in the last newsletter. | Our annual Secret Santa board game gift exchange is happening again this year thanks to our wonderful organizer Jack! The Ogre’s Den Gaming Club has graciously agreed to host us for this event. We hope to see you there to celebrate all the gaming goodness and exchange some thoughtful games. Who: You! What: Board game gift exchange When: Dec. 15, 2024, 3:00 pm Where: Ogre’s Den Gaming Club Why: Gather as gaming friends and spread some board game cheer! Details: Registration closes November 22nd and you receive your match on the 23rd.

| Join the FallCon Volunteer Crew |

A quick reminder that we are always looking for new people to help make FallCon amazing. If you've been thinking about how you might be able to help more, reach out to [email protected]. Our two major areas for volunteers are outlined below, but there are lots of ways to help out. Organizing Team We have a few open positions to help bring our event to the convention floors. The organizing team is the core group of people who make that convention happen and is a great place to help out. They meet monthly to plan the convention. Board of Directors The larger vision and governance of FallCon is handled by our Board of Directors. These directors are elected at our AGM typically held in March. If you are great at setting direction, providing vision, and helping organizers succeed then this may be a perfect job for you. |

| Every month we'd like to highlight one or two gaming events happening in your areas - specifically local conventions or small gaming events. Let us know if you think there is a worthy event we could showcase in the coming months.

KefCon 8 - In Space - This Weekend |
|
When: November 15 - 17, 2024 Where: Kensington Community League, Edmonton, AB
Featuring dozens of hosted games with most of them having something to do with Space! Both Saturday and Sunday they will be hosting games of Twilight Imperium 4th edition. On the lighter side they have daily sessions going of Eclipse which is a slightly less time consuming galactic conquest game!

RPG Alliance Con - This Sunday |

When: This Sunday - November 17, 2025, 10am - 8pm Where: Dickens Pub, 1000 9 Ave SW, Calgary, AB
Note: Due to the location this is an 18+ only event The RPG Alliance began in 2018 and is a Grass Roots, Inclusive, Tabletop RPG Gaming convention that runs tabletop role playing game events using safety tools, like the X-Card, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. They welcome everyone and every kind of TTRPG game. |

GOBfest, our long time allies in the Alberta game community, have announced their 2025 dates! Stay tuned to their site for early registration starting in December. If you are in the Edmonton area or willing to travel there, then this family friendly weekend of gaming is a not to be missed event. |

Always Gaming with FallCon |
|
Gaming happens year round thanks to our fabulous Meetup Hosts. If you're not busy Tonight at 8pm! join them on our Discord Server for some online gaming on Board Game Arena. I finally had the chance to join them recently and can't say enough how welcoming and encouraging they are. If you don't know a game just let them know and someone will help you out. If you want more of a physical presence then check out one of our other Meetups. We have partnered with Queer Calgary in to offer Queer board gaming most Fridays on the upper mezzanine at the Sentry Box. You are welcome to come whether you are new to gaming or an experienced board game expert. This event is meant to be a safer, welcoming place for Queer identified individuals and to offer social supports for our community. Events are posted throughout the year so click the Join This Group button when browsing the events to get notified directly.
