| 15 – 18 September 2025 - Tampere University, Finland. The SEFI 2025 Annual Conference will address the topic of Engineering and Society. The call for papers was published before Christmas. The submission process will open on 3 February 2025, for full papers and workshop proposals with a submission deadline of 1 April 2025. We welcome three submission types: - research papers, on engineering education (both quantitative and qualitative)
- practice papers, on teaching innovations in engineering education
- workshop proposal, which will demonstrate or explore an educational practice

| The 52nd SEFI Annual Conference proceedings are now available for download, offering 2,759 pages of cutting-edge research and best practices in engineering education. You can also access individual papers with DOIs on our SEFI 2024 Zenodo community. Additionally, the process of indexing the proceedings in SCOPUS has begun, and they are expected to be indexed within approximately two months. |

| We are delighted to announce that the SEFI conference proceedings from 2017 to 2021 have now been published as individual papers with DOIs and are searchable on the Zenodo platform. (Since 2022, SEFI papers have been systematically published with DOIs.) A special thank you to the EuroTeQ project "Clearinghouse for Engineering Education Research" (CLEER) and, in particular, Anja Kranjc Horvat, whose work has significantly improved the accessibility of our papers. With this update, papers from all SEFI conferences since 2012 are now available online! |

| 25-27 June 2025 - Wolfenbüttel, DE. The 22nd SEFI SIG in Mathematics seminar will be held at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences. This seminar serves as a platform to exchange ideas and practices on teaching mathematics in engineering, with key topics including AI in mathematics education, project-based learning, and supporting diverse student groups. Educators are invited to submit 4-6 page papers, with abstracts due by 31 January 2025. |

| Una Beagon, Janet McKennedy, Ruchita Jani, Brian Bowe, from TU Dublin, together with Margaret Morgan, and Rosalind Henry, from Ulster University, present a paper analysing reflections from engineering students involved in a research project addressing the skills gap between traditional education and the competencies needed to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 12. This staff working document provides a detailed overview of the consolidated conclusions from ten Erasmus+ pilot projects, which explored a path towards a European degree (label) and a possible European legal status between spring 2023 and summer 2024. |

| EUROPEAN UNIVERSITIES ALLIANCES |
|
On 24 January 2025 – the International Day of Education – the European Commission published the much-awaited evaluation report . The publication presents the strengths, achievements and progress of the alliances since the inception of the initiative in 2019, considering the different development stages of this initiative. There are currently 65 such alliances involving over 570 institutions in 35 countries, some of which also receive support from national schemes. |
