New Way to Recover Lost Text

One thing I did accomplish this year was to learn a new technique for restoring lost text. Sometimes, especially with Android devices, text that has been carefully entered from a translator is lost. The files are deleted, and there's nothing left!

Fortunately, BTT-Writer uses git on the back side to carefully save our work, and sometimes we can use this technology to help recover this lost data.

The first time I did this, I just used the git features of WACS. I made a PDF of how to do this that you can find in the Documents section of TechAdvancement.com

Since then, I've found that it's even easier using a tool called Gittyup. You can download a copy of Gittyup for Window, macOS or Linux from github.

New Help Desk

With the help of Mark Hancock, we also moved the help desk to some new software. We hope that you (the customer) won't notice anything, except that maybe we can be even better at responding to your requests for help.

New Training Opportunities

We had a great time working with many of you last year at our training events, and I hope that the training you received has made your work easier. This year we have a new training program with different emphases. The hope is that it will give all of you an even better knowledge of the material, while also using our resources wisely. I don't have all of the details right now, but hope to have them soon.

New Program Versions

We've been releasing a lot of new versions of many of our programs in the last year. Right now I'm helping to test a new version of BTT-Writer for Android. We hope that this version will be able to go back into the Google Play Store to make it easier to get. Once that's done, our programmers will see if we can do the same thing for BTT-Recorder.

We've seen a lot of progress with Orature, the Desktop (Laptop) version of recorder, and there are a bunch of other tools that you don't normally see that are very important for the work we do.

New Picture of Me

I used an AI program to make a picture of me as a muppet. That's not very useful, but Tech Advance is working with IT to see if there are ways we can use AI to help us with the work we do.
