Introducing Our New Initiative: Cuddly Companions!

CPLF's Cuddly Companions program connects individuals with a friendly, well-mannered pet for a one-hour visit—whether in their home or a nearby green space. If you're a proud pet owner with a gentle, well-behaved pet and would love to brighten someone's day, or if you'd like a pet visit to bring warmth and companionship to your day, we'd love to hear from you! With 2025 now underway I thought it would be a great time for all our stakeholders being guardians, individuals, and staff to understand that CPLF will continue to foster an inclusive work environment that is diverse and equitable. With this, CPLF management will continue to stand up for the rights of individuals, staff, and guardians and that our work is free from emotional abuse, physical abuse, and/or financial abuse and our service is guided by our founding values:

  • Every person should have the opportunity to live as a full member of society in his/her own community.

  • Every person has the right to a group of people (family and friends) surrounding them who cares and wants the best for them. 
  • Every person has the right to be accepted and respected for the person they are.

  • Every person must be treated in an age-appropriate manner.

To our CPLF staff, you have been there for our Individuals since our founding in 1989 and CPLF management wants to thank you for your continued work. Your essential work is inspiring, and I know your actions are lead with empathy and wanting to go the “extra mile”. To this end, please adhere to CPLF’s line of communication with your Case Manager before making any changes to an Individual’s Support Plan and/or Community Activities. Allow CPLF the opportunity to make sure that you are conducting work as per our Alberta Employment Standards and that you are indeed safe during your work.



Clear communication with your Case Manager about any changes to Community Activities will underline our professionalism of one of Calgary’s continued premier service providers.
