To All CWOA Retired Members,
Good day! I hope this message finds you in good health as we begin to wrap up the summer season. First, I would like to apologize for the mix-up regarding our August virtual Retiree Meeting. With that said, our next virtual Retirees' Monthly Meeting will be held on September 17th at 7:00 pm as scheduled.
Big News: For the first time in CWOA history, the Coast Guard National Retiree Council (CGNRC) invited us to participate in their Annual Meeting earlier this month. This opportunity was made possible thanks to CG Retiree Services Program Manager, CWO4 Bob Hinds (RET), CGNRC Co-Chair RADM Austin (RET), outgoing CGNRC Co-Chair MCPO Pierce (RET), and incoming CGNRC Co-Chair MCPOCG Jason Vanderhaden (RET). Not only were we invited to participate, but we were also given the opportunity to present on behalf of our Association.
A huge thank you to our CWOA Executive Director and his team, particularly Aniela, for preparing me for this presentation. Although I presented virtually this year, I have committed to attending in person next year to further solidify our seat at the table!
We will be sharing more information about the topics discussed during the CGNRC Annual Meeting over the next few weeks, so please stay tuned.

As it stands today, here are the legislative actions that our CWOA supports and has signed onto with The Military Coalition (TMC) as they pertain to Retirees:
- Concurrent Receipt of Retired Military Pay & VA Disability Pay for all.
- Subsidizing Retired Reserve TRICARE during the "Grey Years."
- Keeping TRICARE for Life fees low & managing pharmacy costs.
- Defending against reductions in Retirement Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA).
