Greetings

In a week where Mark Simmons won for the best joke at the Edinburgh Fringe, Bennifer is breaking up, and the night sky gave us an impressive Super Blue Moon, we're still talking about games.

Recent Posts

We publish new articles, reviews, and lists almost a dozen times a week. Here's some of the things we've been talking about in the past week.

Answers to Last Week's Puzzle

Last week's puzzle featured the scrambled names of five games we recently reviewed on Meeple Mountain. It also featured one glaring error--an extra "W" that snuck into the first game on the list. (My apologies to anyone who got hung up on that one!) The error was caught by my fellow Meeple Mountaineers and at least one sharp-eyed reader.

That same sharp-eyed reader sent in some alternative guesses that amused us so much, we asked him if we could reprint them here for you to enjoy as well. Our thanks to Adam Sequoyah (AS) for making our week!

Wasps Win Again = Wingspan Asia  (with an unintended additional "W")

Acting Marty
Tangram City

Row Android Meow
= Weirdwood Manor

(AS: This absolutely must be Odd Warrior Women (although I've never heard of, nor do I believe currently exists, such a game)

Corals Himself A Golf = Clash of the Galliformes

(AS: Game of Flora Chisels (this is one of those independent designs themed around the kodama-like nature-spirit sculptors of plant life, right?)

A Wren Ruing Thou Skedaddled
= The Walking Dead: Surrounded
(AS: I'm pretty sure this is a current or upcoming Thunder Road expansion. So it must be Thunder Road: Dead, We Sulking (I mean, I'd be sulking if I had to keep ravaging the wastelands when I was dead) Or is it Thunder Road: King Dud Weasel (not a very inspiring name for a king, imho) Or possibly Tír na nÓg: e Rude Husk Waddled (this forthcoming expansion is probably, you know, named after an Irish way of describing the abovementioned undead "husk" waddling around being rude to people, right? Like a Celtic mummy?)

    What We've Been Playing

A quick check-in with our staff of writers to see what's hitting our tables lately.

    Mark Iradian
: I recently got the FFG version of Samurai, the old Reiner Knizia. Enjoying it quite a bit. Also got the revised edition of Power Grid.
    Clayton Schoonover
: Getting ready to start learning Frost Punk. Otherwise, still stuck on Castles of Burgundy and Terraforming Mars.
    Abram Towle
: New to me: Cat in the Box. I feel like I'm horrendous at it but it has way more decision-space than I expected.
    Andrew Lynch
: I've been playing a bunch of Summoner Wars
    David McMillan
: Whatever I can play, whenever I can play it.
