It has been a busy few weeks! We hosted our 2nd Annual Walk & Roll walkathon, where we had over 100 walkers and many volunteers come out to support! Our youth leaders had mascot training (as we get ready for the Neighbourlies Birthday Party services), and we hosted the Filipino Community Dinner at the end of June.

BNH Youth Connections Grant Program

The BNH Youth Connections Grant program is an upstream, youth-led, community asset building and well-being program designed to engage youth to improve Burnaby neighbourhoods. This program is open to youth of all genders and ethnicities aged 12 to 17 living in Burnaby.

You can apply for a grant up to $500, to share your ideas, gifts and talents with your peers or neighbours, and to help you bring your project idea to life. Once you have applied for a grant and your project has been approved, you do not need to pay the money back.

Stretching and Meditation

Explore holistic stretching and meditation techniques that combines motion and inaction to cultivate both the interior and exterior of the body. Much like Qi Gong, in this practice you will learn a set of exercises known for rejuvenating and energizing.

With minimal instruction, participants can easily follow along and gradually understand the movements.

Would you like learn to use email, create files and documents, use excel, search the Internet or practice typing and writing skills on a computer? Volunteer Computer Instructors are available to help community residents with their computer learning needs. We offer support in multiple languages.

EAL for Newcomers

Tuesdays,10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Come and join a beginner level class with Pariya to help you learn English, meet others, and make connections.

This class will be running on Tuesdays from 10 AM to 12 PM at our Brentwood House location (2055 Rosser Avenue), starting on July 16.

Study basic English grammar for mastering the rules and structures to help you become fluent in English. These English conversation classes will help you integrate speaking skills with grammar.

Minds in Motion® is a fitness and social program for people living with any form of early-stage dementia to attend with a family member, friend or other care partner. This program runs for 8 weeks from July 26 to September 13. See poster for more details.

Qi Gong is a personal practice that led to fitness, flexibility, and internal peace that combines the physical benefits of exercise with the spiritual qualities of meditation, leading to full nourishment of both mind and body.
